"I'm not going to let you do this, Nico," Will said, scolding me, his boyfriend, and only love.

I messed with the cannula attached under my nose, which was started to get on my nerves. I was in a state of terminal lung cancer, diagnosed by Will Solace, son of Apollo. (Yes, they had the power to do that... Okay maybe Apollo and a few of his other godly children helped diagnose.)

"Will, this little shit is annoying; if you'd just let me take it off-" I started say.

"NO." Will snapped. "Not until dad says you're clear."

"But he's annoyinger!" I groaned, not wanting to find a better word.

"Annoyinger isn't a word."

"Murder is, though."

The I looked at Will with innocent, skeleton eyes. But all Will did was glare down at me. "Why do you want to risk dying?" Will asked.

"What if I'm fine?" I asked. "What if Apollo is wrong?"

"Nico, I feel it inside you!" Will exclaimed.

"I think I'd know if I'm dying!" I'm a child of Death, practically! It'd be dumb if I couldn't tell I was dying! So, I did the right thing. (At least it was in my mind.) I ripped off the cannula, snatching it off my head and throwing it as far as possible.

I inhaled, air seemingly going into his lungs fine. And then exhaled.

"See?" I said, kicking his oxygen tank over. "I'm perfectly fi-"

"Nico!"

I felt the air drain form my lungs, and I was struggling to breath. The sky, which was crystal clear today, started to fade. My lungs hurt, like they were on fire. I needed oxygen, but my lungs didn't want to give it to me.

"NICO!" Will cried again as darkness messed with his features. His hair started to seem slightly darker, his skin slightly tanner.

And then everything went black.
