I woke up quite early, and seeing the texts from Rye from the middle of the night, I smiled wide.

8:23 - morning, well done that's amazing! and can't wait 😘 see you soon xx

9:41 - I'll pick you up later if that's alright 😉 about 8?

- of course, see you then beau 💕

I had a pretty chill day, I managed to help my mum out with some work stuff and we had a movie day to reward ourselves, watching our favorite films together after going out to buy a huge bag of popcorn, some sweets and chocolate and some drinks.

It soon came to 7pm, and as the last movie of the day finished, I stood up and took all the rubbish out. "We should have more movie days like this," I smiled, and she agreed, nodding happily.

"Definitely, I missed days like this," she said, putting the last of the food in the cupboards.

"Me too," i smiled, hugging her tightly. We hadn't had time just for us for so long and it'd been lovely, I was almost reluctant to leave but I was excited to hear what Rye and the boys had been busy recording.

I went up to my room to get ready. I had one of Rye's shirts from the other day so I put that on over a pair of leggings. I grabbed my favorite shoes and grabbed a hoodie before heading downstairs with my backpack.

It wasn't 8 yet so I sat with my mum for a bit watching some TV. It was only when the program finished that i realised the time.

8:29. I checked my texts and frowned as I'd had nothing from Rye. I texted him, thinking he'd just forgot about the time.

- hey boo, forgot about me? 😘

When he didn't answer after a while, I messaged him again.

- everything okay??

I was starting to get a little worried, he'd never just ignored me like that, what if something had happened? I thought about what to do, I would've gone to see him, but my lack of a car deemed that idea impossible. Jack, I thought. I was pretty sure that Jack was over there with them last night.

- hey hey, know what's up with Rye? He was meant to come pick me up over an hour ago?

I locked my phone and set it down on the arm of the couch, trying to convince myself it was just a mistake.

My phone buzzed and I grabbed it quickly, seeing Jack's name pop up on the screen. I unlocked it and read:

- I dunno, he went home at like 6 and everyone else stayed, has he not called? He told me this morning he was seeing you

- no he's not answering my texts, ring him please??

- gimme a sec

Okay, now I was starting to get worried. What if something had happened?

---

I didn't get a response from Jack for almost an hour, and when I did, he didn't have much information.

- it rang out but no answer, and no replies, he could just be helping his dad, he has to sort loads of shit on the weekend doesn't he?

- I guess but it wouldn't have been hard to text me that he'd be late or that he can't make it

- don't worry about it okay? I'll keep trying him and let you know when I get him, he's an idiot he's probably just forgot

- thanks, call me when you get him?

- will do babe x

Rye's POV - 5:30PM

"Rye?" Blair called him out into the hall.

Shit, he thought. He went out, shutting the door to Blair's flat behind him, "yeah?"

"Right, i'm gonna give you some credit because you've still done well with recordings this week, but you're letting yourself get too distracted, mate," Blair said sternly, raising a brow at him. Rye didn't know how to respond so Blair continued, "if it carries on, I'm gonna be forced to do something."

He swallowed, "don't tell my dad.."

"Look, as long as you sort this out, it's between you and me. But I've told you all it's too much to juggle a girlfriend with all the band stuff," he patted Rye's shoulder when he saw his face drop, "I'm sorry."

5:50PM

Rye quickly said his goodbyes to the boys and Blair, heading home. He didn't know what to do. When he got home, he went straight up to his room, trying to work out how he could fix this. He couldn't risk fucking up with Blair again, if he got caught he'd either be out of the band or his dad would find out and neither of those could happen. He lay on his bed, not knowing what to do, so he didn't do anything.

9:46PM

"Where are you?" Jack asked as Rye swiped the Answer button on his phone.

He sighed, "don't tell her I answered you and not her, okay?"

"Maybe if you tell me what's going on? I thought you liked her, what the hell are you doing?" Jack's annoyed voice sounded.

"Blair said I've gotta sort it out," he explained, "and I don't know what to do, how to tell her. He's already told me off this week because of her, and I've like 4 chances with him.."

"So you're ignoring her?" Jack questioned, "not a good idea, dude. Just tell her you're busy or something, so she knows you're alive at least!"

"I'm gonna," Rye sighed, "I just don't know how yet..."

"Well, hurry up or I'm telling her myself," Jack said and hung up.

His phone buzzed again with a text after a while.

Jack🍀 - I didn't tell her but I will if you don't in the next hour

Shit. How did he do this? He didn't have a clue what to say, he knew she'd either hate him or brush it off as not important; they could hide it better... they couldn't, it was extremely important and he didn't want to fall out with her. "Shit," he muttered, staring at Jack's text. He closed it and was going to text her, quickly changing his mind. Rye sat staring at his phone, and after about ten minutes of thinking about it, he started typing.

- i'm sorry i can't delete

- Blair kicked off and he's on by back about delete

'I can't do this,' he thought, 'i've got to call her. Shit...' He went into his contacts, but instead of scrolling to her name, he went to Jack.

"Have you spoken to her?" he asked as he picked up.

"I don't know how to tell her," he admitted, running a hand though his hair.

"Well figure it out because i'm about to tell her for you and she'll fucking hate you if i do," Jack said, starting to get annoyed, "and can i just add that i lied to her for you? She's gonna be pissed at me anyway so you better fucking tell her!"

Rye sighed, he was right. Jack had covered his ass and the least he could do was sort it out. "I'll tell her," he said closing his eyes for a moment as he thought about what he was going to say, "right, i'll text you."

"Good, she'll understand, you know? She might be pissed but she'll get it," Jack reassured him.

They said their goodbyes and hung up and Rye hovered over her name in his phone, eventually pressing the Call button.
