"What the hell are you talking about?"
That was the first thing Ruka said when she opened her mouth. I sat across from her at the dining table. Her family was out for the time being, leaving her alone in the house. I had explained to her what happened the night before. Honestly, I was excepting a bigger reaction than that.

She shook her head, as if she was trying to clean her thoughts. "You're telling me that, Aoi and Akahana's father is alive and he didn't die in a car accident like Seiko told us?"

I shrugged. "That's what he explained to me. He's been working all this time."

A small laugh escaped her mouth as she threw her hands in the air. "I mourned over that man for nothing!" She stood up and walked around the living room. Talking about how that man didn't deserved to be mourned over, if he was somehow going to resurrect himself later on. I couldn't help but laugh at her being dramatic.

She stopped and turned to face me. "What the hell are you laughing at now?"

"Typically, you're being quite dramatic about the whole situation."

"Dramatic?" she baffled.

I nodded. "Quite."

Ruka scoffed, "Well, excuse me for being angry that I had mourned that man! When someone is dead, people tend to cry and ball to the God on why did he take them away!"

I could understand why she was upset. On the day of his funeral, she balled her eyes out, clinging onto Aunt Ayumi. We've met Aoi and Akahana before and their dad had been the best. He was fun to be around--not that we disliked spending time with our family--but he was almost like another kid to be around. Which was probably why Seiko had allowed her kids to be more free.

"Just be glad he's alive," I told her. "Alive and well."

"But we can't tell Akahana about it," she muttered, crossing her arms.  She sighed out of frustration. "Damn it, I never liked keeping secrets."

"Yet you did it all the time."

"Is that suppose to be an insult?"

"If it was, I would be trying hard to make it seem like one."

Ruka stopped walking around and looked at me. "Well, why are you telling me all this?"

"So...you won't get your parents to call the police on him. He's a nice man and hasn't done anything wrong."

"You missed the part where they're heading to that hellhole of a school."

I shrugged. "Besides that. I could see their features in him. Honestly, I was just as surprised and his childlike personality is still there. Especially from when we were younger."

"Okay...say I don't keep this a secret. How would Akahana react to it? She is still sensitive from Aoi's death. And what had happened back in the house we went to. Things haven't been the best for her."

"I know." I glanced down at her legs. The stitches had left scars, ones that were noticeable, even from a distance. Her arms were in the same condition. I had thought it was impossible for her to live through that.

"What are you staring at?" she asked, bringing my attention back. She looked at her legs and shrugged. "Nothing medicine can't handle."

"Do they still hurt?" Hell, it looked like they still did. The ones on her arms were still red, maybe from rubbing alcohol, but the scar on her thigh was turning a light shade of blue and purple.

"Have to head back to the doctor about my thigh, but my arms are good. They said they are healing nicely. You're a worry-wort. There's nothing for you to worry about for me."
