" What do you mean by that?" I asked her.
" Heavenly Host is filled with ghosts that want you to suffer along with them. Of course, when you freed Sachiko her soul was released, but now there is a new ghost wandering around the school."
" So...nothing worked?" Ruka questioned.
" Nothing that you did."
" Does that mean our friends are ghosts now too?" Ryu asked.
" Most likely. They could be roaming around the school, looking for someone to kill. They're not your friends anymore. They're ghosts. None will remember your faces."
" How do you know this?" Nagisa asked.
" I learned, the same way you have. Also, I have been there for research with Hiro and Aiko." Yuki turned to look at Ruka and Ryu, frowning at the two of them. " You look like the two ghosts that walk the hallways at night there."
" We...look like ghosts?" Ryu repeated, slightly insulted. A minute ago she was shy and hated being around us, now she seemed to know what she was talking about. She didn't hesitate to speak the truth.
"Yuki Kanno and the boy Ryou."
" The ones who were in that article from years ago," Ruka muttered. " But, we can't look like someone who is dead. That's impossible, unless we're living like them in another life."
" Sounds like you understand."
" Not in the slightest, but it helps if I understand your language, for you are difficult to understand."
" I get that quite a lot from Aiko and Hiro. I am no older than about your age, but they still treat me as if I am younger."
" How did you end up where you are now?" Ryu asked.
" They found me when I was in an orphanage really. Other kids enjoyed playing outside while I liked being inside, reading the books they had given me. You learn a lot when you do all the research, but when I did they got mad at me. That's when Hiro came and took me, and then I met Aiko."
" So you don't know your parents then," I said. She shook her head. " A hard life, but you did well in the end I guess."
" Well? Well is not the word. I did better than my parents had. Either way, you must stop your search to bring back your friends or you can tell your parents and they help you. Either way, you mustn't do this alone. It's dangerous."
" Dangerous is our middle name," Ryu joked, pointing to Ruka. " Well, mostly this one. Been the trouble twins for as long as we can remember."
" Don't joke about it," his twin said, giving him a jab into his side. Though, that brought a smile to her face.
" Must be fun to have a family. Now, you must tell yours about what happened here today."
Throughout our conversation, I failed to notice that Nagisa hardly said anything. When I looked at her, she looked distant from everyone else. As if she didn't want to be here in the first place. I don't blame her, I never wanted to be here so much either.
By the time we were finished, Aiko and Hiro were still outside, waiting for us to finish. It seems they went somewhere, because there were soda cans next to them along with some food.
Hiro was the first one to notice us. " You finished speaking now?"
" Yep, everything has been handled," Yuki replied. " They are deciding what to do about their fate tonight and tell us in a couple of days. By then, hopefully they will discuss it with their parents."
