Chapter 14: Shinozaki Background

Damn it all! Why did they always come and find me instead!

" What is it Anna?" 

" Call you back." 

The man wasn't rude to me, but he had a strange aura around him. Maybe that's why Ruka and Ayumi always spoke with uneasiness. " Why are you here?" I asked. 

" Do you mind if we talk somewhere in private? I must speak to you about your friend." 

" Like hell you will!" 

" Please, it will only take a moment." 

I don't understand why I was so kind. I looked back at my door in order to make sure it was closed before jumping out. I held onto the window seel. Since I always have bad luck, my hands slipped and I ended up falling on my back. 

" Are you hurt?" the man asked. 

" Hurt wouldn't the word. My pride is bruised." 

He helped me up and didn't do anything else to me, surprisingly. He pointed over to the fence and I followed him. I was still cautious of this man and I had my phone in order to call the police. 

" Why do you want to speak to me?" I asked, once we stopped walking. 

" I wanted to speak to you because you seem to know what's happening with your friend. See, like I said I'm friends with Ayumi and her sister." 

" They don't remember you." 

" I know that much, because I transferred schools. I curse the day I left. They don't remember my face so much anymore." 

" Did you know my parents?" I asked. 

He nodded. " Naomi and Satoshi. I was close with them as well, but like I said. They won't remembers someone who left in the middle of the year like that. Anyway, if you wish to speak to me more there's someone else I would like you to speak with as well." He took a card from his back pocket and handed it to me. 

It was a random phone number. 

" Is this yours?" 

" Someone I know. Around the same age as you and your friends. She can help you with Heavenly Host Elementary and help you get your friends back. Her and I are the only ones who know about this." 

" Tell me then." 

" I can't." 

" Then I won't come and meet you two." 

The man sighed out of frustration. " Fine, fine. What do you want to know?" 

" First, your name." 

" Hiro Fukui." 

" Hiro? There's no way my parents would remember your name from long ago." 

" Thanks for the confidence Anna." 

" And I see you know my name because you've been watching us." 

" No, because Naomi mentioned that if she had a daughter one day, she would want to name her Anna. I don't know the reason why. Maybe she thought it sounded nice." 

Hiro shrugged. " Do you have all the information you want?" 

" Yes. Now my parents and Ruka's can leave you alone. I'll call you tomorrow and speak with you about this girl. Right now, I have to hurry before my parents find out that I'm gone." I chuckled. " They freaked out the last time, imagine what they're going to do this time." 

Hiro watched me as I left. I have a feeling there's more to this than what he says.

The next day in the evening, I waited by one of the restaurants that was closer to downtown. I told him we would be meeting here along with his little friend.
