home brings out the soul

"finally we are home" jake exhaled excitedly, as girl jumps up and down in excitement. "its so warm! so good, so good!". "jake is that you?" his mother called wearily from the couch. "yeah its me! i brought her home for the night i hope its ok with you.". "yes" she replied, but even that was hard for her since shes not all there in her head. 

Inside there were two bedrooms and the kitchen and living space was connected along with a wood furnace which was rare for the slums. jake had his own room while ethan and his mother shared a room and grandma never leaves her chair, but jake is soon to find out she never will. grandmas name is lauren but none of them have last names, last names are considered pride for the rich so when your evicted you loose your last name. she is very small and frail, almost like a doll thats gone through many little girls who were left happy and passed her down, so now shes worn and torn, but still beautiful.

"me and girl and going in my room to study and sleep!" jake said hastily and rushed to his room. once inside he pulled two books from under the bed, an algebra book and an English book.          " bad bad jake! those are illegal here" she said with tears in her eyes. " i know i know, but its okay as long as we dont get caught, right?" he opened on of the books to reveal lots of post its, with notes and tricks to solve the problems. "wow you sure are smart aint ya'" she said with charisma. "yeah would you like to learn some new words before bed?" "yeah!".

after about twenty minutes of studying jake had lain a mat on the floor with a pillow and a blanket for her to sleep. once in bed she got restless and stared at jake until he asked, " whats wrong?" she replied with,"jake, is what they say true, about me being, special".  "DID YOU JUST SAY THAT?"he basically screamed,  and she solemnly replied, "yes, sorry its been so long, goodbye for now i feel tired," "wait no dont leave now i haven't heard you in so long, i dont know how much longer i can go without you! please." he pleads as she just falls over but then slowly gets back up. "jake? was i sleepin'? haha so funny!" "yeah you were just go back to sleep im tired" he snaps, startling her in the process, she lays her head on the pillow with tears in her eyes. "sorry she didnt stay long, im sorry, im so sorry." she she almost whispers and falls asleep. no one can rap their heads around what is wrong with her but that strange voice is how she always used to be, but she just started changing to what she is now, and jake cant forget how deeply in love he was with her but now its not her, she rarely talks like she used to, its almost as if there are two souls in one body.
