23.) He Tried

Carter's P.O.V

After lunch we came back to the house, and Michael is still practically avoiding me and I still have no idea why he's acting so strange.

It better not be that whole Marcus thing because he gave me permission to do that. I wouldn't have done it if he didn't want me to. He could have said no, but he didn't.

I have no idea what else he could possibly be mad about.

I haven't done anything wrong, not that I know of anyway.

Maybe one of the other's knows what his deal is. Maybe he talked to one of them about it, whatever it is.

"He Luke? Can we talk?" I asked him as I walked into the living room.

"Sure, what about?" He asked.

"Is Mikey still here?" I whispered.

"No, he left why what's up?" He asked me.

"I walked over to the couch and sat down, turning the tv off so he wouldn't get distracted and stop paying attention to me.

"Did you notice how weird Mikey was acting with me today? No kiss, no hug, and he left and didn't even come say goodbye to me. Doesn't that seem odd to you?" I asked and Luke kinda looked at me weird, but I could tell he was thinking hard about it.

"Now that you mention it, I did notice that he didn't really show any sort of affection to you at all today." Luke said

"Do you have any idea why?" I asked him.

"No. I have no idea." Luke said and I let out a frustrated sigh.

"I have no idea what is going on. We were perfectly fine yesterday, and now he is like avoiding me." I explained and Luke nodded his head.

"I'm gonna text him and ask why he was so distant from you at lunch. Maybe I can get him to tell me." Luke said.

He took his phone out and I could see him typing what seemed to be a pretty long message. I'm sure he'll show me what it says after he send it, or after he gets a reply from my boyfriend.

I sat in silence for about twenty minutes before Luke finally tapped me on the shoulder and handed me his phone.

Luke: Hey mate, I wanna ask you something.

Mikey: What's up?

Luke: I noticed you being pretty distant with Carter today. You left without even saying goodbye. Did something happen between you two that I should know about?

Mikey: Shit, you noticed that? Do you think she noticed to?

Luke: Probably, she's a girl. Girls notice stuff like that.

Mikey: Shit. If I tell you, promise not to tell her anything. I need to figure out a way to tell her myself. If she hears it from you she'll be even more pissed off than she already will be.

Luke: I promise dude.

Mikey: After I left yesterday I ran into my ex. You remember Penny?

Luke: Yeah. I remember her. She's a bitch.

Mikey: Well I ran into her and I made the mistake of hanging out with her for a little bit. She tried to kiss me so I back away and told her I was in a relationship and she didn't seem to care she kept pushing and pushing until I finally gave in.

Luke: Mikey...tell me you didn't cheat on Carter.

Mikey: I don't know Luke. I tried to stop her and she was just so persistent. She pulled my pants open and when I tried to stop her she still managed to get her mouth where she wanted it. 

Luke: Man..thats fucked up. I hope you stopped her.

Mikey: I didn't Luke that's the problem. I let her keep going.

"You've gotta be kidding me. What did I just read." I asked, shock obviously across my face and in my voice.

"I'm sorry Carter." Luke said.

"Does that even count as cheating? I mean he tried to stop her." I asked, trying to find my way out of this.

"But he ended up letting her do it." Luke said.

"But he tried. He tried to stop her Luke. I don't know what to think. I don't know what to do." I cried.

Luke wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest.

I started crying so loud I knew Gabby was gonna come down to see what happened.

"This isn't happening. This cant be happening Luke." I cried.

"I'm sorry Carter. We'll figure this out."
