"GET UP YOU LITTLE PIECES OF SHIT IT'S A BRAND NEW DAY." I yelled before running outside to check if the roof had survived the rain from the previous night. "Watch your language, Matarazzo." Caleb said as soon as he was also outside. "Whatever, McLaughlin." I replied, already halfway up the ladder. He walked out to the van (it was quite old so you never know) and we both worked until breakfast."We have a plan for a hit. No more crazy plans about you two eloping to Mexico, an actual plan for an actual hit on an actual official. She should be carrying an ID that gets us into the White House. We kill her while she's on vacation in Florida. She's expected to be gone for a year due to a mental breakdown so they won't suspect a thing." Sadie said once everyone was sat down. "Here's the file." Noah shoved some papers towards us with a picture and some text.
Her name was Captain Tessa Dirckson, and she worked with the program Sadie and Noah were part of. She was a night guard, meant to keep everything out and in. "She's the one that once stabbed someone for wanting to go to the bathroom at night." Sadie explained. "And she's a good friend of the King's." Noah added. I nodded and saw Caleb and Finn do the same. "So when are we leaving?" I asked. "It's about a five hour drive from here." Caleb said while tracing the route. "I say we leave today. I mean, why wait. We have enough ammo and supplies for this, it's an easy hit, no security, no surveillance. There is a dog but that's it. We still have some tranquilizers so we can take him out." Sadie said. "I'm low on painkillers. Caleb took most of them."
"I had a fractured skull, okay."
"We know." Noah said. "We can hit a pharmacy if we want to. I mean, Sadie's right, we've got the ammo from the last mission. We should be fine." Finn proposed. We all nodded and went our separate ways to pack, meeting back at the van around ten minutes later."So we'll probably pass by a pharmacy somewhere along the road, and if not, there's one two towns over from the hit." Noah said while we drove away from the house. We'd packed enough food and water for four days, and we were only planning to be gone for two, maybe three. "Isn't there one ten miles from here?" Caleb asked. "Well yeah, but we're way too hot right now. At least in this area. We better do a different one." Sadie said, not even bothering to look up from her book. I reached over to turn up the volume on the radio and started singing along. Slowly but surely, the others started to join me. Only Noah stayed silent while he mumbled to himself and occasionally wrote something down. When I, later on in the trip, got a look at his notebook, it was all scribbles in a language and letters I did not understand and I'd never seen before. But when he showed Sadie, she immediately understood.
"We go in and out, fast." Finn said, earning himself some laughter. "Shut up. Sadie, you ready?" She nodded. "Gaten, Noah, armed? Also Noah, could you hand me my gun?" Noah grabbed it from its spot on the floor. "Caleb, keep her running, we'll be right back." Finn said. "Fuck shit up out there but don't die." He finally stated before opening up the door.
Noah walked over to the counter and knocked out the pharmacist while Finn and I rounded everyone up and put them in a corner to be guarded by Noah while Finn grabbed medicine and I looted for money. Only once did someone try to escape but Noah quickly floored her and knocked her out. We were out in about 3 minutes with three bags full of supplies and another with quite a lot of money.
We were driving again by the time Finn started handing people their medicine. "Okay, Sadie, these are yours." He handed her a few pink boxes and she quickly grabbed them. "Gaten, painkillers for your leg. And I'll just give you Caleb's too." I took over about ten boxes from him and quickly stacked them on the floor by my feet. "Noah, sleeping pills."
"Thank you."
"And my own anxiety meds."
"One bag down, three to go." Sadie said. "Knowing us, we could probably get so injured that we'd have to use all of the medicine on one hit." Caleb remarked. "The day we need six months worth of birth control pills for one run, is the day I kill myself." Finn replied."It's only noon but we've reached the destination so what do you guys want to do?" Caleb asked us when he'd parked the van. We were on the parking lot of a hiking trail so no one would suspect anything. "I'll make us lunch and then we could just play cards." Noah proposed. "No alcohol this time. We all now what happens on hits when we've had alcohol." Sadie said and Finn awkwardly rubbed his neck, remembering the time he accidentally helped the victim escape because he thought she was an innocent bystander. We got her in the end, though.
"Aaaaand I'm president, bitches." I threw down my last two cards while the others groaned. "You kidding me, Matarazzo. I haven't played a single card yet. I'm probably gonna lose this." Caleb complained. I leaned over to look into his cards and started whispering instructions. About three minutes later, Caleb finished second. "Vice-president. High five!" I yelled.
