All Shook Up vs. Heathers

So, I'm in this musical called All Shook Up... Basically it's like Footloose combined with Twelfth Night with Elvis songs. I swear it's better than it sounds.

There are two songs I'd like to talk about that are really similar to a couple songs from Heathers.

DISCLAIMER: This is just an observation. I really like All Shook Up and Heathers. NO FLAMZ U PREPZ!1!1!1!1!

"One Night with You" VS "Fight For Me"

So, the similarity is not found in the music itself, but in the staging. In "One Night with You", everything on stage freezes when Natalie (a mechanic who falls for Chad, the roustabout) starts her song. This is similar to how everything freezes when "Fight For Me" starts. The only difference is that Chad doesn't fight anyone in slow motion. The lyrics are also about the same thing, so that would probably explain the staging. Ya know, we're experiencing what the character's feeling through the staging. When she sees her love interest, time stops, and the character monologues through song about how in love she is with this one random guy and all that jazz.

"A Little Less Conversation" VS "Dead Girl Walking"

So, these are similar in both subject matter and music. Idk, it's probably just me, but I feel like this specific song would be right at home in Heathers. It's fast paced like most of the songs in act 1, and I feel like the instrumentals are pretty similar to a Heathers song. So, in terms of subject matter, both songs are basically summed up with this one phrase: Let's get it on. I suppose "A Little Less Conversation" could be interpreted another way, but that's how I see it.

So yeah, that's all for now, folks!
