This Chapter was written by me.

We had been walking for about half the day when I broke the tension and awkward silence,

“We’re nearly at Newcastle, so we could do a quick supply run, and I heard a military convoy was passing through, but got attacked. Sound good?” I said while grabbing my Sniper, I had a hunch that our lack of zombies was about to change

Grace gave me a small smile

“Sure…” She said

“You ok?” I asked, clearly concerned

“I'm fine...just...feeling a bit off. Probably just need something to eat”

“Ah right ok" I stopped and took off my Hiking Bag, and retrieved a sandwich I made at the mansion, a Ham a cheese sandwich on white bread, and passed it to Grace. I did up my bag and slung it onto my back and stood there keeping an eye for walkers while Grace ate lunch.

“You care for me more than yourself sometimes…” Grace said while eating “it's not good”

“I know. It's just your the only person I have left and are the reason I haven't ended my life yet" I said while keeping an eye on the zombie that was getting awfully close.

Grace was noticeably taken aback. So much that she didn't reply. Just looked at the sandwich I had given her.

“Come on eat up, you’ll need your strength" I said while smiling, “Don't worry about me, I’ll eat something later”

“Ok then…” Grace said quietly while giving me a pat on the shoulder. I looked back at Grace and smiled and slipped my hand into hers. She looked at me with eyes I haven't seen since the infection started. And I loved it. I was brought out of the sentiment by a growl in the distance, I cursed and quickly brought my aim back to the rifle, my hand being drawn away from her grasp. I cursed again when I saw how close the Zombie had gotten. I quickly took aim and fired, I was preparing to fire again when I saw the zombie fall over. I heard more growls in the distance. I cursed again and quickly said to Grace,

“If you’ve finished let's move! There are a lot of walkers incoming" I said getting to my feet.

Grace nodded and wolfed down the rest of her sandwich.

Tightening the strap on her rifle she held onto my arm. I shouldered my Gun, and returned her grip before running in the opposite direction of the zombies, and conveniently straight towards Newcastle. When the growls stopped, I stopped.

“Grace, there's something I need to tell you" I said with a hint of desperation in my voice

“What is it?” She asked

“I...I….” I stuttered “I love you! Ok! I love you and have for a long time"

Graces face was clearly red. She gave me a smile “ David…” She began “out of all the times you could of told me now is the time you chose? You daft sod!” She laughed as she planted a kiss on my cheek “come on you!”

“Well, better late than never I assumed" I said my face slightly red “let's get moving" I slipped my hand into hers and we made off for Newcastle.

“Oh. I seem to have lost my rifle...ah…” Grace smiled innocently “I...uh...must have dropped it…” I smiled, and passed her, her rifle, I saw her drop it and picked it up.

“How…?” She asked with a puzzled expression.

“I saw you drop it. So I picked it up.” I smiled.

She rolled her eyes.

“I can never fool you can I?”

“Nope!”
