Chapter 13: Doctors Visit

*David's POV*

Grace buried her face into my chest, tears pouring from her eyes soaking my hoodie. “...” I didn't say anything, as did Grace. Then out of the corner of my eye, I noticed someone, someone who I hadn't seen or heard from in 2 years. Blind with fury, I handed Grace, Rose and stormed up to the figure, and punched him in the back of the head “‘Sup little bitch” The person spun round, only to be met by my fist to there face. “Dude what the fuck?!?” The figure said “Why?”

“That, Joshua, was for completely abandoning me for 2 years. This, is for helping" I quickly pulled the figure into a hug “Goddamn Josh you do not know how fucked I am mentally right now. Like seriously.” I heard Grace walk up to me,  I stopped hugging him and turned round.

Her eyes lit up when she saw Josh. And she pulled him into a childish hug.

It was the first time I saw her smile since after the barn.

Then Josh noticed Harõ, and Rose. “Uhh, I can explain?” I said and looked to Grace for help.

Grace opened her mouth to speak but closed it abruptly.

Even that wouldn't make her speak. “We found baby Rose here in the Cereal aisle of Tescos, in the arms of her Dead mother, from there me and Grace have been raising her as our own.

Harõ just kinda found us and started to follow us.”

“I know" He said calmly “I trained Harõ and was walking with Rose’s mother but I had to abandon them.” A look of pure fury crept onto my Face. “Grace, how about you, Harõ and Rose go to the medical tent?” I asked.

Grace paused with a worried look on her face but then nodded.

She patted her jeans to call over Harō and with Rose in her arm she walked off. Before giving me a ‘Don't kill Josh look’. I cracked my knuckles and turned round “Stay still, or I might hit something I wasn't supposed too"

*Graces POV*

I walked over to the medical tent.

I couldn't help but feel scared.

David hadn't known this but I had a terrible phobia of doctors.

‘Come on Grace’. I thought to myself ‘do this for Rose’

I took a deep breath and entered the tent.

I was greeted by a male doctor followed by a nurse

“Ah! Hello! Are you new here?”

I nodded

“Not much of a talker are you? I see you have company”

I nodded again

“We'll take the dog to the vet tent next door” he said looking at the nurse

Harō looked at me as if to ask if it was ok to go.

I nodded to Harō and he trotted after the nurse

“Let's look at the baby first” he said reaching out his arms towards Rose.

I stepped back a little, I was still scared

“Don't worry. I only want to help” he said calmly

I sighed and handed him Rose.

“Thank you. My name is Dr Regan”

He took Rose over to the examination table and did a check up.

“She looks alright to me. A little malnourished but that can be sorted, could you come sit on this other table love?”

I nervously did as he said.

“Now I need to know your name”

I just looked at him

“Still not talking? Alright how about you write it?”

He passed me a paper and pen and I scrawled my name down

“Grace Moulford? Alright grace I noticed you got some bandages on your arms. Can I see?”

I froze up

“I'm not going to hurt you ok?”

He took my hand and carefully began unwrapping the bandage.

He didn't get very far though because something snapped.

It must have been pure fear because I snapped my arm back and punched him in the face.

As soon as this happened another two nurses rushed in and held me down.

I struggled

“Doctor are you alright?!” A nurse said

“Yes I'm fine. We seem to just have an unstable patient”

Fear. Fear. Panic. Panic.

I wanted to get out.

I didn't like this.

No no no.

I didn't like this at all.

“Should we use restraints doctor?”

“Let's sedate her first” he said “she seems to be in full panic”

I was struggling as much as I could.

I hated needles.

In that moment I did the only thing I could do.

I screamed.

*David's POV*

I heard a scream. Standing up, I ran over to where the scream was, the medical tent, and burst through the doors,

“Sir! Please! This is an unstable patient. You have to stay back!” A nurse said trying to stop me. I lunged at the man and punched him in the face, overpowering him quickly “SHE'S NOT UNSTABLE" I shouted my voice starting to break “IF ANYONE IS, I AM!”

“Sir. Please listen. She attacked the doctor for no good reason. I'm sorry sir but I'm afraid she is” I cursed to myself. I had completely forgotten how Grace felt about Doctors “She attacked the Doctor because she is Scared of them. She panicked, and after spending a couple of months in a apocalyptic wasteland, you pick up some natural instincts especially when your scared" I had fury leaking from my eyes “She panicked because She thought she was going to be hurt. At least that's what I think. Now if anyone is unstable, it's me.”

“I see” the doctor said wiping the blood from his mouth “though I do think something could be rather mentally wrong with your friend...she has all the signs, does she have any history of mental illness?” I growled “I’m not at liberty to discuss that”

“I'm only trying to help sir, if your friend needs help then I want to provide it. But I can't do it without some information, did anything rather mentally scarring happen to your friend recently? Or maybe something that happened a long time ago?”

Grace looked at me through tear stained eyes and nodded.

“Yes" I muttered “Yes she does” I began

“A few years ago she had a boyfriend called Dean, he was very controlling and rather abusive. He came back lately and did some...unspeakable things to her AKA her arms.

She hasn't spoken since.

As for history of mental illness I don't know much but she gets depressed sometimes and gets panic attacks and PTSD”

“Thank you” the doctor nodded “I know what not to do now. But I'm afraid I'm going to have to keep your friend in restraints a bit longer. Safety regulations and all that…” I growled but nodded “I’m staying here. If she has a panic attack, PTSD attack or you set something off I’ve seemed to be the only person who can stop it recently. And if you try to make me leave I will punch you in the face”

“Well I was just about to say that maybe you should have a look around and get something to eat but if you insist on staying then I won't stop you” The doctor said. It was then I suddenly felt really light headed. My vision started to go Dark, and I passed out muttering “Oh shit".
