He walked up to the gate and saw no one outside. Not a single child enjoying jump rope and predicting their future with a slight jump over a thin rope.

He always thought it was absurd how children actually believed that the silly old games they play work.Children used to ask him if he wanted to play and he always said no. Then he told them that it would be impossible for a game of jump rope to predict his lifetime.

e was puzzled as to why there weren't any children in the school lot. Then he realized...It was national bread day. Yes. National bread day. The town they live in was started by bread. Many years ago the founder of our town moved here with his wife and 7 kids. After living here with no food for 3 weeks they found a giant wheat field. They immediately made bread and the oldest son traveled into town to sell the bread. They made a fortune.

Once every year all of the local bread shops were giving free bread. From cinnamon to butter, the bread in this town was fantastic. No one had ever tasted bread so good. Cole always loved bread day. But he usually spent it with Carly,Corbin, and Avery. But this year was different. He definitely did not want to be spending the best day of the year with a psycho killer.

His phone chimed. He took it out of his pocket. It was Veronica. He wondered why she was texting him. They broke up in the 10th grade. He clicked into his phone and quickly typed in the passowrd. It was 2000 for the year he met Avery.

His eyes widened as he read the text.It said Hey Cole. It's me Veronica(just in case you deleted my number). I heard on the street that you and Avery aren't talking. Wanna hang? Meet at the first bread shop. Cole wondered how the word had spread so quickly. He texted back Sure Veronica. I'll see you in a sec. She read it but didn't respond.
