"Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday Miranda, happy birthday to you! " sang Crystal very loudly I might add in the hallway as we stood by my locker. I laughed at this and said thank you."Crystal, singing that song was very contrasting to your personality. It was actually kind of weird seeing you so cheerful" laughed Sarah. This was true though, the happy birthday song did not go well with her all black everything style.
"Blow out your candle" she said as she handed me a birthday cupcake. I blew out the candle just for old time sake, not even making a wish. I wasn't the superstitious type so making a wish would just be a waste of my time.
"What are we gonna do later?" asked Crystal as we started walking to the cafeteria for lunch. "I was thinking we could go see a movie. Oh by the way crystal put your number in this " I said and handed her my phone.
"Wow, cool phone" said Crystal as she took the phone and did as told. She handed back the phone to me and we went to take a seat at our table. Somebody came and touched my shoulder. I looked to see that it was Bradley.
"Hey Miranda, you look really nice today" he said as he sat beside me. The girls excused themselves to get our lunches, leaving me seated with Brad. "Thank you Brad, it's actually my birthday today" I confessed.
"Oh, happy birthday. Should've known earlier to get you a gift" he said and smiled shyly. "It's no big deal. It's not like we're close friends or something" I told him and he smiled.
"Hey there Brad, what are you doing here" said Ashton Ashe walked up to where we were sitting. He had a slightly angry look in his eyes but he smiled none the less. "Oh, hey Ashton. Just wishing Miranda here happy birthday and telling her how nice she looks" he said to Ash.
"Oh well, we're waiting for you " said Ash. "Ok. Um Miranda, I know it's kind of weird but would you like to go out with me tomorrow maybe. I'll make it up for your birthday gift" said Brad as he stood to leave with Ashton. "Um, I guess" I said with a small smile and a slight blush forming.
"Great can I have your number?" he asked. I quickly gave it to him and he went away with Ashton.
I'm not scared of guys or anything like that, but it's just weird hat he asked me out. In front of Ashton at that. I couldn't turn him down. It wouldn't hurt either, he's kind of cute. What could go wrong?
After a couple minutes the girls returned to the table with a tray for me along with their own. They got me a grilled cheese sandwich and a diet coke along with a small slice of cheesecake.
I started to eat and as the girls asked me about what happened with the guys, the unexpected happened. A loud commotion started up behind me and I looked to see that it was between Ashton and.......
Bradley?

*Ashton's P.O.V*
As my crew and I entered the cafeteria I notice that Bradley was talking a detour. He walked over to where Miranda and her friends were sitting. I went to sit in a position where I could see over there direction.
A girl by he name of Amber came and sat in my lap. We often had flings but I didn't like her all the way. She had jet black hair and pretty blue eyes, but was way too slutty for me to take her as a serious girlfriend.
"Hey Ashton, what's up?" she said as she ran her hand down the side of my neck. "Hey Amber" I said as I tried to look around her shoulder but not seem distracted at the same time.
"So, you guys wanna ditch and go to that new skating rink in town?" asked Dylan. He was one of the other guys from my crew. He had black hair and green eyes.
In total there are 7 people in my group. Amber Blake. Cameron Downer who had brown hair and hazel eyes and was equally as slutty as Amber, being that hey were best friends. Dylan Willis. Sometime Julie Smith, who was Dylan's on and off girlfriend. Bradley Davis. Drake Henry and myself.
"Sure, someone go get Brad and tell him that we're leaving" said Drake as they all got up. "I'll go" I volunteered, desperately waning to get out of Amber's arms.
I walked over to the and told him hat we were waiting on him. He stood but before he left he asked her out on a date for tomorrow. It hurt me because I knew that I liked her but I was in denial. I couldn't admit to myself that I liked Miranda Burke so I made sure that I treated her badly so she wouldn't get close to me.
Love only came with hurt. So I tried to stay as far away from it as possible. No matter how much you loved a person, at the end of the day somebody will always be left broken. Whether it be by a break up or by death.
That's what happened with my mother. After my father died, my mother was devastated. The love she had for him and knowing he couldn't come back drove her into a state of depression. I just couldn't handle that right now, or ever.
"Where are we going?" he asked. "To the new skating rink in town" I told him. "Oh ok. What do you think of Miranda?" he asked me. I looked at him with an eyebrow raised. He was a bit shorter than me so I had to tilt my head down a bit to see him eye to eye.
"I don't know. Why'd you ask?" I asked him now folding my arms. Him having my full attention. "She looks so innocent to me. So easy and naive. I bet I can get her into bed tomorrow" he said grinning and sticking out his tongue ina suggestive way.
This angered me and before I realized what was happening my fist collided with his face. A loud crack noise was heard. Yup I'm sure I broke his nose. Blood started running down his face in small streams as he held his face in his hands and looked at me with surprise.
"What the fuck! Why'd you hit me man" he shouted. This only made me angrier. How could he not know why I hit him. After he said something like that.
My fist reconnected with his face resulting in him crouching down and I kicked him where the sun don't shine. By the end of this, the whole cafeteria was looking at the scene.
Miranda was staring at me with so much shock and fear in her eyes. I don't want her to think I'm a monster. I wiudl never hurt her. I looked down to see Cameron holding Brad in his arms.
Mr. Powell came into the cafeteria and shouted out for me to follow him. I stood in place. "Mr. Grey I said to follow me right this instant" he shouted.
I looked at Miranda one last time before I exited the room, not caring about Mr. Powell's demands. I went to my car and sped out of the parking lot and went to the one place I could relieve my anger. The fight club.
