Chapter 41

     Sarah kept bugging me all day, wanting me to tell her why I had gotten called to the principal's office but I didnt tell her. I know it was a tad bit selfish but I wanted to tell Ashton first.

   I kept to myself for the rest of the day, being that Sarah was upset with me but I would make it up to her. Upon hearing the news I knew she would no longer be upset with me so I wasn't paying much attention to that.

    I took the bus home, not even bothering to wait on Ashton to take me home. When I got home I took a shower and curled up in my bed awaiting his arrival. About 30 minutes later I fell asleep.

   "Hey Miranda, wake up" Ashton shook me awake. "I was looking everywhere for you. Did you get sent home?" he asked. I opened my eyes and smiled at him. I got up and walked pass him without an answer, going to the bathroom to freshen up.

    The sky was darker and I heard crickets chirping outside. "Miranda" he said. I reentered the room and saw him sitting on my bed. "Ashton" I said, raising an eyebrow.

   "Why are you acting like that. What happened today?" He asked me with burning curiosity. "Oh I'll tell you in a bit. Follow me to the roof?" I asked. "Umm, ok" he said standing and going out the climb up to the roof. I followed close behind and sat beside him, looking out at the dark purple hue of the sky and the rising milky moon.

   Stars danced across the canvas of the sky and it was such a beautiful sight. "So Mira, what's got you acting like this?" he asked, looking deeply into my eyes. "Acting like what exactly?" I asked, smiling at him.

    "So laid back, I like it but its creeping me out. I'm not use to this" he said cautiously. I laughed at this and he chuckled nervously as if I had lost my mind.

   "Well I got a scholarship to Harvard" I said, practically bouncing in my seat. "What?! That's amazing. That's great beyond belief. That's just, Wow!" he said, not able to contain his excitement. He grabbed me and pulled me into a hug. "Whoa there, be careful" I shrieked, reminding him that we were on the roof.

    "That's wonderful Mira. I'm so proud of you" he said, kissing my forehead. I smiled and lay down looking up into the sky deep in thought.

   "What ya thinking about?" he asked me as he lay by my side. "I'm just reflecting on everything. About how we couldn't get along and look at us now" I admitted. "I know right. Didnt know why you were fighting it, we both know you couldn't resist me" he said, flexing his muscles and kissing them.

   I laughed and flicked his forehead making him laugh as well. "Hey Ashton, you remember the Halloween party?" I asked him. "Not really, I was really wasted, were you there?" he asked me. "Yes I was, you remember the bruised nose you woke up with?" I asked. "Yessss" he said slowly, dragging out the word.

    "I did that" I admitted shyly and his eyes widened. "What! Are you serious" he shrieked, laughing afterward. "Yup" I said, popping the p. "Well I have to admit I was really a jerk to you, so I assume that I deserved it" he said, shrugging his shoulder.

    "Yup, you did" I told him. "Ok ok Ms. Burke, put a lid on it" he said chuckling. We resumed looking at the sky. "I'm glad I came here, away from Rochelle and those evil twins. My life went totally uphill from that moment onwards" I said. "I came to your rescue. Your own little Prince Charming. Hey and with those sisters of yours, your my own little Cinderella" he said practically beaming.

    "Cinderella My Ass" I said rolling my eyes. "You know your a geek right" I said, crawling over to him and straddling his lap. " You love me though" he said nonchalantly but I really did love him. The realization hit me and my features softened.

   "Ashton" I said in a low voice. "Yes Mira?" "I love you" I said staring into his eyes. He didnt say anything and I felt bad so I started to get off his lap but he held me in place. "I love you too Mira, I was afraid to tell you because I was afraid of what you would say" he said after a couple of seconds.

   "Really" I asked incredulously. "I have for a while now Mira" he said. We stared at each other smiling and as we started to lean closer to each other Lilly shouted "Mira!" Startling us both we jerked away from each other and ended up falling off the room and into the pool once more.

    "Wow, how charming" I said smacking his wet chest. "Oh just kiss me Cinderella" he said smirking. "Stop calling me that" I said before kissing him none the less.
