GROVER'S POV

Percy had a shimmer in his eyes. He wanted to prove he was good enough for his father to see him. I ripped some bark from the leg, throwing it as far as it could go. "Yeah! Hades, we'll visit him!" Percu was dead serious about this. I just nodded and went along with it. "He can bring my mother back!"

"So they say," I muttered. Percy just looked so happy. How could I let him not at least try? "Well if you're really doing this- going to the Underworld? I'm going with you," I tried to make it sound like I was telling him, not asking him. I was his protector after all. It was my job.

My job that I loved.

"Of course!" he smiled. He was so happy, the light in his eyes was back. I was so happy to see that. "How could I do it without my best friend?" the 'friend' part hurt my heart. But I was glad he was at least letting me come along.

"We leave tomorrow!" he decided, what else could I do?

...

The next day, right before sunset we decided to head out. Percy took the lead while I followed closely behind. We were on our way to the Underworld. But which direction was that? How did you even get to the Underworld from Camp Half-Blood?

"Grover," I snapped awake. A deep voice called out to me. "Don't you know me? It's I, Lord Hades," Percy must not hear anything. He kept walking. "Turn around now, before it's too late," I ignored it and continued walking than it said something that made my heart stop.

"You wouldn't want anything to happen to Percy now, would you? Some protector you are!"
