GROVER'S POV
When we caught our breath, I offered the idea of sleeping under the protective tree. Percy happily agreed with my plan. We were a few miles away from Camp so it was pointless walking all the way back -- retracing our steps -- just to have a bed to sleep on.
I decided that we were to sleep in shifts just to make it safer for the both of us. I offered to take first shift to let Percu get some shut-eye. Plus I had to think. Did I hug Percy because I'm his protector? That was the real reason -- right? My feelings had been so jumbled it didn't help that Percy had fallen asleep in my lap.
I played with his hair while he slept. He looked so at peace when he was asleep. Completely different from when he was awake. I had to remind myself Percy was only a teen and shouldn't have to be dealing with all these monsters and myths junk. This was his life now, which really stunk.

PERCY'S POV
It was one of the most horrible nightmares I could ever remember having. I was facing the Lernaean Hydra again. Only this time I was facing it alone. The monster screeched and reached one of its many heads to attack me. I remembered seeing this monster in the Hercules cartoon movie as a kid. Did my mom show me that movie for a reason?
The monster scratched at my arms and legs. I closed my eyes, which had begun to grow pretty damp. When I opened my eyes again Grover was hugging me tightly. And he didn't let go.
