PERCY'S POV

Trespassing? This is a city! How in the world did you trespass in an entire city? What was Grover even talking about? "Failing me?" Grover could never fail me! I leaned closer to Grover, who wasn't letting me go. He was hugging me like there was no tomorrow.

Grover let me go, and I felt my attention drift to Hades. He was looking at us with a grin and I wanted to dig my face into Grover's chest and never look at Hades again.

Yet, I had to be tough. For my mom and for Grover. So I blinked back at Hades who looked very tough up close. I did understand why he was the god of the Underworld.

"What do you mean 'pay'?" I whispered, and I felt Grover tense up next to me. Was it illegal to be in a city? Ruled by a God that I didn't know existed a few seconds ago?

"Well, usually I would make you two work in the Underworld for a few hundred years, but I like you two," Hades admitted shrugging. I didn't know if having Hades God of the Underworld liking us was a good thing or a bad thing. "So I have a nice offer for the both of you," I shivered, leaning closer to Grover, I wanted to reach for his hand or his arm.

"What is the offer?" Grover spoke up. His voice wasn't as shaky as mine. When I talked I sounded like I was on a bumpy train.

"It's more of a game. It's kinda like two truths and a lie, but if one of you loses then I'm sending you to the Underworld to work for me for the rest of eternity," Hades smirked. I looked to Grover to see what to do. Grover made eye contact with me and then looked back to Hades.

"We'll play your game," Grover spoke, speaking for the both of us. What other choice did we have? We played either Hades game or perished.

I honestly would rather perish.
