I woke up and rubbed my eyes, wincing as I touched the tender skin on my cheekbone. Danny snored loudly next to me, and I got up and dressed for school. Yeah, I still go to school. I'm sixteen, but Danny is twenty one. I'm staying at Danny's house while my parents are away on holiday. They think that I'm staying at Holly's house. I scribbled a quick note to Danny, explaining where I had gone, and then headed for the bus stop.
"Oh my god, what happened to your eye?" Holly screamed.
"Holly, shut up!" I hissed as people turned to look at us. Holly ignored me and pressed around my eye with the tip of her index finger.
"Ouch, Holly, stop it." I brushed her off. She looked offended.
"Sorry." I muttered.
"What did you do to it?" Holly asked again.
"Nothing, I fell and hit it on the table edge." I lied.
"Oh, poor you. It looks sore." Holly looked at me sympathetically. Inside my stomach was squirming. I didn't deserve her sympathy, I'd just lied to her. God, I'm such a bad friend.
"Talking about it just makes it worse, so..." I smiled weakly. Holly let the subject drop and when the bus came, we crammed in at the back, and chatted randomly about exams and teachers and friends.
At lunch, Holly and I headed to the computer rooms. I clicked on my Facebook page, and a notification popped up.
Rylan Farrier added a photo of you.
Smiling, I looked at it. There was a photo of Rylan and I with our arms around each other, in our party gear. I grinned. Despite what Danny says, I will stay friends with Rylan forever. After all, I am one of the only people who he told about him being gay. Also, I had been friends with him since I was in Year 7. We were in the same sets, and he was really sweet and kind. Suddenly, I felt an overpowering surge of guilt. I wasn't supposed to tell anyone Rylan's secret. And now Danny knew. God knows what he would do with that information. I tapped Holly on the shoulder.
"Hey, look at this." I showed her the picture. Holly laughed.
"Aw, that's so sweet!" Then her face fell.
"What?" I asked.
"Have you seen the comments?" I quickly scrolled down to see the comments.
Oh my gosh. she's supposed to be in a relationship, she's such cheating scum. From Lola Warren. I turned around and saw her giggling at me.
"What would Danny say if he knew about this?" she called from the other side of the room malevolently. I looked back at my own computer screen, my stomach churning. She wouldn't.
Lola knew about Danny because we were all at a club one night. Lola was hitting on this guy who was into me, and Danny didn't like it. I was choosing a drink, with Danny sat next to me, his hand protectively on my shoulder. I felt a tap on my back.
"Hey, it's on me." Lola's guy smiled. I grinned back.
"Thanks."
Next thing I heard was Danny's growl.
"Stay away from my girl."
"Huh," Lola had appeared at Danny's shoulder, "Why would anyone want to be near your girl?" I was expecting Danny to lash out at her, but his mood completely changed. He turned around and smiled at Lola.
"I have no idea. Shes a cheating skank, but guys seem to like her. Don't know why, because she's mine." At this point I had run out of the club, crying. I didn't know what Danny would do if he found out that I had a picture with Rylan, but it wouldn't be good.
