**SERENA'S POV**

Rinngggggg! Yes! The last bell rung! Ugh, finally. I can go home! Can't wait to see Oliver... or "Olive."

I never call Olive by his real name. It's just too plain. Olive sounds much better anyways. I softly giggle to myself.

We've been best friends ever since the 5th grade. He's like the sweetest guy ever. Always there for everyone, stands up for other people when they're bullied, and even aids animals. I know, I know. Sounds like no big deal, but it honestly is. Olive has such a kind, and innocent heart.

I remember when his best friend, Jared, got beaten up by this gang since he didn't give up his lunch money to them. Olive came to his defense as fast as he could.

Olive didn't care if he got hurt himself.

His first priority is defending Jared.

I remember him walking out, running into me with a black eye. It looked like he just lost in a wrestling match with an alligator. No kidding. I don't know what happened, but his clothes were torn to shreds and he looked like he just took a vacation to Hell.

Oh, there was that one time where he almost killed me while I was with him in his car.

As we were driving back to his house, a cat tried to cross the road. Ugh, really kitty? You couldn't wait for just a couple seconds later to explore our neighborhood?

He turned the wheel left and stopped the brake suddenly. So sudden that I also flew out of that car. Just kidding, but still. We hit someone's mailbox and had to pay pay for it.

He made me pay for it. Jeez. Guys.

**3 hours later**

       8:30 PM

"Coming!" I yelled as I skip down the stairs to get the door.

"Who's that?" asked Mom.

"Oh, it's just Olive," I replied.

I'm sure Mom's fine with Olive taking me out. She had always liked him and his family.

Olive's mom, Angela, and my mom are super close. Almost as close as me and Olive as well.

I quickly opened the door.

Woah. He looked really hot tonight, not like he never did. It's just that he's.... different today. He was wearing a proper suit, long and black with a white tie.

Then I look down at my clothes. I'm wearing a pink t-shirt with short jeans with black sneakers. Well, looks like my best friend outdone me.

"Why are you dressed so fancy? I thought that we're going to Mcdonalds or Wendy's. Something like that. No?" I said.

"What are you talking about? We're going to Olive Garden," he replied with a smirk.

"What?!? How come you didn't tell me? You even dressed up. Ugh, I look so stupid next to you. Go change!" I yelled at him. I couldn't help but smile.

"No, no. You go change. Put on a nice dress, skirt, something," he replied. He was laughing so hard.

"Ugh, what's so funny? Nah, I'm not changing. I hate dresses," I said. And it's true. I've never liked dresses, skirts, or makeup ever since I was little. It was the same with Yasming and Amy. They have never worn a dress in their life. A skirt, maybe, but never shorter than right on their knee.

"Fine. Whatever you say," he smiled.

"Alright. Enough talking. Let's get going before it's too late," I smiled as I give him a soft punch on his arm.

"Bye Serena! Don't be too late! I need you home by 10:00!" Mom yelled in the background.

"Okay! See ya later, Mom!" I yelled back.

I got into his decade old truck, and we headed out to Olive Garden.

Ugh. This is so cheesy. Just like a teen romance book where the guy you like suddenly surprises you and take you out on a date. The next part should be where I confess.

Nah. Not in a million years.

We were both silent for a long time. It was awkward, no shit.

"So, how was the first day of school for you?" Olive was the first to break the silence.

"Good, but strange. A lot of the Level 1s were nice to us. Yasming, Amy, and I. It's so weird," I said in a soft voice.

"Really? Hmm, I don't see what's so weird about it. A lot of people really care about the Levels these days. Seriously," he replied.

"Yeah, I noticed alright," I looked at him. His eyes were focused on the road.

Olive is a Level 2, but again, as I've mentioned, he has always been nice. To everyone.

"Serena, I got to tell you something," Olive said with a serious tone.

I suddenly became nervous. What does he need to tell me?

"Yeah?" I can hear my voice crack a little.

"I don't want anything to be awkward between us, but I don't like keeping it in anymore," he started. "We've known each other for 5 years. I've never ever mentioned this before, but there are times that I feel awkward around you," he turned towards my direction and looked at me straight in the eyes.

"What do you mean?" I was so confused. What is he talking about? Awkward?

"Ugh, what I mean is... I really like you, Serena. Not as a friend. But more than that," he didn't look back to me since his eyes were focused on the road.

I was silent for a moment. Not knowing what to say.

"Olive... I.. I actually feel the same way about you," I said.

Oh my god. This is seriously just like a romance novel. So cheesy.

"Wait, what?" he said, raising his eyebrows.

"I've always liked you more than just always friend. I just didn't want to say it.... I didn't want to make things all awkward between us," I finished.

We arrived at Olive Garden the moment I finished my sentence.

Without saying anything, he cupped his hands to my face and kissed me.

It started off sweet and gentle. But then he deepened it.

I didn't kiss him back for a while, but then I did.

There was no hesitation.

I can't believe it. I'm making out with my best friend who I've had crush on for 6 years. What the heck is life?

He pulled me into a hug as soon as we stopped kissing.

"I've never thought that this will happen. I love you, Serena. I really do," he said.

I punched him lightly in the arm. "I love you too, idiot."

Never ever did I thought this was bound to happen.
