Chapter 5- The Lost Inferno

Sherlock's Pov-

Shortly after Maddy left John appeared in the doorway, he looked concerned. I could tell he knew there was something going on, he always knew.

"John, we need to talk." I told him.

He walked over and sat on his chair that was positioned opposite me.

"Right, what's this about then?" He questioned me.

"I'm sorry to say this but I've been keeping something from you." I admitted to him.

"Oh my God, Sherlock. You could have came to me if you were getting bad again." He sighed.

"What?" I questioned him, completely confused about what he was on about.

"Your either smoking or back on the source aren't you?" He interrogated me.

"No! How could you think that? I've got Maddy to look after now, I can't do that stuff!" I defended.

"Right well, sorry. If it's not that then, what is it?" He asked now getting worried.

"It's Maddy." I stated.

"What? What's up with her?" He said quickly, you could see the worry in his eyes.

"Moriarty's been in contact with her again." I informed him.

"Oh my God! What happened?" He raised his voice, I could tell he wasn't happy about this at all but I had to tell him so that he would be aware and keep a close eye on Maddy.

I simply took out the note and handed it to him. He grabbed the note and examined it.

"Lost Inferno? What's that all about?" He questioned me.

"I'm not sure yet. He made someone cut the word 'LOST' into Maddy's arm when he was holding her captive in that warehouse and he put it at the bottom of that note that was in Maddy's jacket pocket and now it's here." I informed him.

"Wait, hold on a minute! What note in Maddy's pocket!?" He exclaimed.

I had forgotten that I hadn't yet told him about that.

"It was yesterday when I went off to my room and kept you both waiting to go out, I found it in Maddy's jacket pocket when I picked it up to give it to her. When I noticed it I went somewhere private to have a look at it but it wasn't addressed to her, it was addressed to me." I told him.

"Well, what did it say?" He sounded frustrated.

"Holmes,

P.S. LOST..."I read the note to him.

"What'd you suppose this whole 'LOST' thing is about? It keeps popping up everywhere!" He asked me.

"I don't know, it could mean anything! He used the words 'Lost Inferno' on the most recent note, we may not know what he means by 'LOST' but we know one thing. Inferno is a fire, a very violent blaze."

"I can't believe you kept that stuff from me, I'm your friend and I treat Maddy like she's my family because I care about you both. Don't keep stuff from me, I can help you." He pleaded with me.

"John, I just didn't want to worry you about it but I'm going to need your help with this one." I told him.

"Sure, what is it?" He asked.

"You need to help me keep Maddy safe, I don't know if I can do it John. I might let her down and I need to know that you will be there to help me if I fail." I admitted.

"Sherlock, your a good dad. You couldn't have prevented what happened last time but this time we're ahead of the game, we'll be more prepared. Nothing is going to happen to her as long as she's got us, she'll be safe." He assured me.

"Oh my God, John I've got it, I've figured it out!" I shouted when my brain had finally clicked and started to work properly again.

"What?" He replied.

"Lost Inferno." I stated.

"Yes, what about it?" He questioned.

"Maddy's the lost inferno! She's the lost flame!" I told him. "And Moriarty is igniting the fire, he's going to strike again John!" I explained to him.

Apologies for the short chapter but it was necessary, honest!

My story should be really picking up at either chapter 7 or 8, that's when I plan to start the main body and put my *evil plans into action! Haha! Hope you don't hate me too much after this!

As it was a short chapter I will update again tomorrow because I love you all and want to keep you happy!
