Maddy's Pov-
As much as I was terrified to think about all of the possible events that could occur in the future, I couldn't help but feel at ease that Sherlock was there for me. I trusted him. I knew that he wouldn't let me down.
I figured, as it was mid evening, I'd do some writing. I was currently writing a mystery love thriller, of course I made the main character a strong, confident, successful person. Unlike myself. I wrote her as I would like to be. I was a ridiculous person myself, I was weak and foolish. That was how I was so stupid enough to manage to get kidnapped by Moriarty when I was standing right next to Sherlock. I mean I was seriously less than 30cm away from him yet I wasn't able to prevent it or get his attention until it had happened.
My mind has completely changed about the whole fiction thing. As, when I first met John, I told him how I did not care for fictional stories only fact and truth but since everything has gone on my opinion has been rapidly altered. As much as I hated being taken by Moriarty and being hurt, there was a sense of excitement and adrenaline that it gave me. That doesn't make me weird, does it? Although I suppose, I do take after Sherlock so that would only seem natural for me to be like that.
I wrote for a few hours, I skipped dinner as I didn't really feel like it plus I don't think there was anything in anyway that I could eat more the fact that Sherlock and John were talking and I think they wanted me out of the way.
I ended up writing late into the night, not realising the sun's light slipping away from me. I ended up sitting in my pitch dark room with only the bright lighting of my laptop's screen for me to see what was around me. My eyes were straining from the painful white glare of my screen. It eventually got too much for me so I saved my work and turned off my laptop.
I looked over at my alarm clock.
00:07am
No wonder I was feeling so tired! I had to get to sleep as I had school again tomorrow and I had to be ready to act as normal as I could around Matt without him getting suspicious of my actions. I slipped into my pajamas, set my alarm then crashed my head down on my pillow and fell, almost instantly, into a deep slumber.
Sherlock's Pov-
After I'd figured out what this 'Lost Inferno' thing was about and that Moriarty was going to strike again I called up Lestrade and ordered him over here immediately. I was going to need all the help I could get. Although, if I could, I wanted to keep Mycroft out of it. He wasn't bothered last time so why would he be this time?
After about 20 minutes Lestrade had finally arrived, I knew it was him because of the way he seems to heavily trudge up the stairs, it was his shoes. Expensive, they made a particular sound when they touched wooden flooring allowing me to identify him easily.
"Ah, Lestrade. I see you've finally decided to grace us with your presence!" I said sarcastically to him, I still remained seated.
"Yeah, alright Sherlock. I was busy with this thing called my job!" He countered.
"Hm." Was all I replied.
I stayed silent for a while as John began to explain everything that was going on. I was trying to think. I was trying to figure out what we should do and how I could keep her safe from Moriarty's grasp.
"Right so Maddy's this 'Lost Inferno' thing then, what is that all about?" Lestrade turned to me.
"Yes and as we know that an inferno is a violent fire and we're taking the word lost in it's literal meaning. Concluding that Maddy is in his eyes a lost flame to the fire that he is going to ignite. Which would also point towards the fact that Moriarty must have started that fire as a way of gaining our attention as he is restarting his game." I stated.
"Right, so what do you need me for then?" He asked.
"I need your help, I don't know what I'm going to do. For once, I don't know what to do. I need you to help me keep Maddy safe Lestrade." I admitted.
He looked shocked at me asking for his help and more so of the fact that I had just admitted that I, Sherlock Holmes, world's only consulting detective, doesn't know what to do.
"It's fine, I'll help you. John and me are both here to help you. The only thing I can think of that could help is to put maximum surveillance on Maddy, I can arrange CCTV to be set up and a team of officers to follow her around to keep an eye on her?" He proposed.
"Yeah that's be good, thanks Greg." John thanked him.
"Well I'll get onto it then." He said as he turned to walk out of the flat.
"Greg." I called.
"Yeah?" He turned around.
"Thank you." I smiled.
He returned the smile and walked out of the flat.
"See Sherlock, you do have people that care and want to help you!" John retorted as he went to boil the kettle.
"It would seem so, I just hope it's enough." I stated.
"I'm making coffee, want one?" He called from the kitchen.
"Not for me thanks." I replied as I stood up, I walked over to the stairs.
I quietly crept up the stairs, which led to Maddy's room. They creaked slightly so I slowed down and tried to be more careful, I didn't want to disturb her. I eventually got to the top of the stairs and walked over to her door. I delicately opened the door to find her flat out asleep. I walked over to her side. I stood there for a few moments. I felt like I was frozen in time just looking at her peacefully in her dreamland. I leant over her and gently pushed some of her curls out of her face. I then placed a small, light kiss on her forehead and stepped back. She looked so innocent. I really did love her. I was going to make sure nothing would happen to her, my Maddy.
