Unbeknownst to those on Earth, awakening from their stasis pods in the Reef, are a new species of people. These were the Awoken, gray skinned humanoids, who mixed between light and darkness within them. But these weren't the only species awakening from a dark slumber. These creatures, minions of the Darkness, were known to us as the Fallen, Hive, Vex, and Cabal.
The Fallen, former keepers of the Traveler, whom built them a utopia on their planet. In an event called the Whirlwind, the Fallen were left without light, and were forced to use a synthetic alternate to it, called Ether. Without it, they would die. The Fallen were placed in houses. These houses were The House of Devils, stationed on Earth, lead by Sepiks Prime. They were responsible for the battle of Twilight Gap and the destruction of London, and are currently searching Old Russia for an object underneath of it; The House of Exile, based on the moon. It is a relatively minor house, and are comprised mostly of Dregs and Vandals, with a few Servitors and Captains cropping up. They also don't serve under an Archon or Prime Servitor; The House of Judgement, which resides in the Reef. Only one member exist of this house, named Variks; The House of Kings, a reclusive and relatively unknown house. Though spotted on some occasion by Guardians, in the Terrestrial Complex on Earth; The House of Rain, Scar, and Stone are extinct houses; The House of Winter is stationed on Venus, lead by the curiosity of the Ishtar Academy, and the Vex structures on the Shattered Coast; The House of Wolves were former royal guards to the Queen of the Reef, Mara Sov. The eventual return of Skolas, their Archon, had lead to the death of many of the queen's loyal servants. She opened the Reef to Guardians, who would hunt down Skolas and return him to her, who then gave out the riches of her land;
The Vex are highly unknown creatures to the Guardians. These creatures are built with a Radiochloric pod, that is encompassed by a metal frame. They are controlled by Axis Minds, a central processing unit that controls millions of Vex across space, and time itself. The Vex are known to simulate realities, which puts Guardians and basic human beings through a state of confusion when conducting their missions against the Vex. It is currently unknown how they simulate and control time, but it is known what they're intention is: Convert anything that isn't Vex controlled into a Vex controlled thing. They control all of Mercury, inhabit a large portion of Venus called the Citadel, and have a presence on Mars. They are also the sole residents to the Black Garden, which we will get to later. There are different types of programming that belong to the Vex. These are: The Aphix Invasive programming, which are portrayed as minions of the Nexus Mind, the control unit for this program; The Sol Imminent, which is found deep in the Vault of Glass, under control of Atheon. These Vex are encased in a black shell; The Hezen Collective are located on Venus, with the primary directive to search and destroy the House of Winter. They are plain bronze; The Hezen Protective is located on Venus, and is tasked to protect the Vault of Glass and the Endless Steps. They are gold with white stripes; The Sol Divisive are resident of the Black Garden, and are relatively inactive. They are green, with moss formed on them; The Sol Primeval are the programming located in the Vault of Glass, alongside Atheon; The Sol Progeny, which are three Minotaur-like Vex that are programmed to protect the Black Garden; The Virgo Prohibition, who are located on Mars and Venus, and primary enemies of the Cabal and Guardians here.
The Hive are a grotesque faction that, along with the Vex, worship the Darkness directly. The Hive are mindless and operate without heed to anything it does. They formed under a pact made by the Worm Gods. The Hive create architecture that is past human comprehension, and build it where they claim. The Hive operate mostly on the Moon under leadership of the demigod, Crota, son of Oryx. From here, they shot seeders into the Earth, leaving it to Omnigul, the Will of Crota; They exist in orbit of Saturn, on the Dreadnaught, commanded by their God-King, Oryx. They also exist on Titan, one of the many moons of Saturn, turning the Arcologies there into dusty tombs. Within the Hive's skeletal bodies are Wyrms, a creature that assumes control of the Hive carcass to use it as a tool to feed. There are six known sects of the Hive hierarchy: the Blood of Oryx, who are located on Earth and the Moon, and are the direct servants of Oryx. Commonly adorning the color Purple; The Spawn of Oryx, located on the Moon, and is lead by Crota. Commonly adorning the color Yellow; The Hidden Swarm, the most commonly found form of Hive found on the Moon. Adorn the color Red; The Scarlet Blood, and the Venom of Oryx are relatively reclusive and unknown sects; the Silent Brood are found on the Dreadnaught and adorn the color light blue;
The Cabal, an enemy who has set their sights to ruling whatever star system they come across. Their form of governing is militaristic and lead by Emperor Calus. He is located on the Leviathan, a gigantic whale shark-shaped spacecraft located near the unstable centaur of Nessus, a planet ravaged by the Vex, Fallen, and Cabal. The Cabal are divided into different sects, like the Red Legion, who are the mightiest military in the Emperor's arsenal; The Skyburners, who are stationed on phobos, the Moon of Mars; The Blind Legion, who are the elite Cabal infantry set down on Mars; The Bone Crushers, unknown as of now; The Broken Legion, trapped in the confines of the Prison of Elders, and is comprised of traitors; The Ice Reapers, Valus Ta'aurc's personal guard and elite soldiers; Dust Giants, common to the Martian dunes; Sand Eaters, second common detachment to the Martian dunes; Siege Dancers, Valus Ta'aurc's second best personal guard and elite soldiers.
