Lolita’s POV

“Little bread-and-butterflies kiss the tulips…” I hummed as I sliced the juicy, red strawberries. I knew Heather would be waking up soon, and I decided to make her a fruit salad, one of her favorites. The songs from Alice in Wonderland were obnoxiously stuck in my head, and I couldn't help but to hum and sing to them, they were just so pretty. After dropping the strawberries onto the other fruits, I topped the sweet salad off with a small squirt of whipped cream. Placing the glass bowl in the fridge, I took a packet of granola from the cabinet, savoring it until I heard the stairs creak.

My head shot up and I grinned immediately when I saw Heather coming down the stairs, a red velvet bathrobe covering her loosely. She rubbed her eyes lightly and returned the smile as soon as we made eye contact.

“Good morning Hon!” I chirped, running over to her and giving her a hug.

“Hi, princess, how'd you sleep?”

“Good, and I made you fruit salad!” I beamed excitedly, opening the fridge and pointing out the yummy treat.

Her mouth fell open as she gasped, causing me to giggle.

“Thank you!” She exclaimed, pinching my cheek and grabbing a fork out of the drawer.

“How long today?” I sighed, throwing my empty granola packet into the trash can. It seemed that Leo was always at work, and last night I barely saw him because he was busy.

“He'll be home soon, don't worry, we can pass the time.”

“But last night he was busy and I didn't get to--”

“--What does Leo always say?” Heather quickly interrupted, giving me a warning look.

I sighed and bit my lip, beginning to walk up the stairs. “He says no one likes a whiner.” I muttered, rolling my eyes.

“Mhm, and you wouldn't want to disobey him, right?”

I groaned and didn't respond, because she was right. He didn't like complainers, so I simply couldn't complain. I plopped onto my plush carpet, Heather sitting on my bed and pulling out her phone.

“I'm bored!” I yelled out. There was nothing to do, and I wasn't having it.

“Is it that time of the month or something? Because you sure are acting like it.” Heather commented, clearly becoming agitated by my behavior.

“No..I'm sorry, I just miss him.” I sighed.

“He will be home soon, probably early today, actually. I promise.”

“What does he do for work? Why can't he just do it from home?”

Heather chuckled and shook her head, sitting down behind me and beginning to braid my hair. “Don't worry about it.” She answered. I shrugged, I was used to it. No one ever told me what Leo did, so I assumed he probably was some big business man. He seemed like one of those guys, that wore suits and went to important meetings where they talked about business stuff. I didn't get it, but I didn't need to get it. That was his life to lead, not mine.

After my hair was braided, my nails painted and my room tidy, I was almost out of things to do. I decided to color, because Leo said he liked when I colored. He claimed that the way I placed the colors together was lovely. In his room was a small bulletin board, full of just my coloring pages. He bought me lots of coloring books, so I assumed it was because he wanted me to color, right?

As I focused on keeping the thin tipped marker within the lines, a sudden bump was heard downstairs. At first I jumped, but then my eyes widened with excitement. I looked over at Heather and she nodded, a grin planted on her beautiful features.

I immediately dropped the marker, jumping up and flying down the stairs. Sure enough, there he was, looking more handsome than ever.

“Daddy!” I squealed. I ran over to him, wrapping my arms around his torso and giving him a soft peck on the lips. He pulled me up so that he was carrying me, my legs wrapped around his waist.

“My baby! How was your day? What'd you do?” He asked excitedly.

“Well, I colored for you! And Heather braided my hair really pretty, and I made her a fruit salad!” I gushed, practically wiggling with joy.

“You colored for me! Can I see?”

“Well...it's not quite done.” I whispered, giggling a bit.

His mouth fell open in mock surprise. “You didn't finish?! The Lolita I know never leaves a picture unfinished.”

“I know but I was so happy you were home I just had to come down and give you kisses!” I remarked. It was true, it didn't matter how many times Leo walked through the front door, I would never fail to be the happiest girl alive the second I saw him.

“Can you finish it? I need to talk to my other girls for a second, and I want to see it so I can add it to my pretty collection.”

I nodded, loosening my legs so that my feet landed softly on the ground.

“Bye-Bye, baby, I love you.” Leo grinned, leaving a kiss on my nose.

I skipped up the stairs, happier than ever now that he was home. I could faintly hear the voices of Leo, Heather, and Joanne from my room, but I blocked them out and focused on my coloring page.

After I finished coloring I clambered down the stairs, attacking Leo with yet another hug. He jumped slightly but then chuckled when he realized it was me. Heather and  Joanna sat across from him in the kitchen, and both of their faces turned into soft grins when I looked at them.

“Hi, baby, did you finish?” Leo asked, setting down the thick stack of papers he had been holding.

I nodded eagerly, holding the page out to him. I was actually fairly proud of it, the soft hues with the dark ones went very well together.

He gasped as he took the paper out of my hands, causing me to roll my eyes playfully. He did this every time I made him something, he over-exaggerated it, but I love it.

“You know what I’ve got to do.” He announced. I nodded solemnly. Pinning my artwork to his bulletin board was no joke, it was very serious business. He picked me up, yet again. That was one of my favorite things about him, the fact he could somehow hold me forever without getting tired. He was absolutely perfect, it seemed like he was never sad or mad, and if he was, he never let me see it.

We walked up into his room, which was huge, and never failed to amaze me. He pinned the drawing onto the board with one of the pretty pink push pins I had bought him.

With my arms wrapped around his neck, we talk quietly about my day as we walked down the stairs.

“Joanne! Heather!” He called. They immediately came to the staircase. “Let’s watch a movie, hm? Take a break from the fast pace in life.”

We all grinned and squealed excitedly. Movie nights with Leo were to die for. It consisted of cuddles and candy, and who wouldn’t want that?

After a small argument, I convinced the girls to pick a Disney movie instead of the horror flick they had originally chosen.

I sat onto Leo’s lap, cuddling up to him so that my head lay on his chest. I could hear his heart beating slowly, not too fast.

The colors on the television screen jumped out at me, I couldn’t help but to sing along to every song came on. The Princess and the Frog was one of my favorite movies after all, how could I not have a karaoke session? (Daddy hummed along too, but he would never admit it.) I stuffed my mouth with twizzlers and m&ms, savoring every bite. Leo didn't like me having sweets often, so on movie nights I took advantage of the candy stash.

I could feel Leo’s chin resting on the top of my head, and Heathers hands ran through my hair. I had taken out the braid, so now my blonde locks were filled with bumpy curls.

I'm not sure when I fell asleep, but the last memory I had of that night was laying in my bed, and faintly hearing a “Goodnight, babydoll.” from the man I loved most.
