Liza's POVIt's Monday morning and I'm about to go to school. I grab my car keys and my backpack:
"Bye mom. I'm going to school"
"Bye honey. Have a good day!"
I drive to school. Still early. The parking lot is weirdly quiet. I walk to my locker and open it. A note falls out: Meet me at the bleachers when you see this note.
There is no name or any signing. I guess it's Gabbie. She usually goes to school even earlier than me. Or... could it be DAVID???
Nah. It's just Gabbie. I go to the basketball court and see Gabbie there, sitting and scrolling through her phone.
"Hey Gabs"
"Oh, hey Liza"
"You must have seen my note, right?"
"Well, I'm here!"
She giggles:
"Well, come here" She taps on the seat
I walk towards her and sit down
"So, what do you want to tell me?"
I'm sure it's not about the YouTube thing anymore since I've already told her that:
"I got invited by Zane to his party on Friday. Liza, please please please can you come with me?"
A party? Why would Gabbie want me to come to a party?
She makes puppy eyes to me which make it even harder to say no:
"But Gabbie, you know that there's a Math test coming up and I need to study. I told you my mom said I need to finish school if I want to do YouTube."
"Just a night, you can still study on Saturday and Sunday, right? Besides, do you know how stupid and scary it is to go to a party alone?"
To be honest I do want to live my life and explore the world more despite studying. I have never been to a party before, except my sister's wedding last year, so why not give it a try?
"But Zane only invited you"
"He won't mind me bringing a friend. Don't you feel special when you get invited to a party by a popular guy at school?"
"Clearly no because I've never been invited"
"Come on Liza. You're grown up now, you're in freshman year, not a kindergarten anymore."
"Fine!"
Gabbie claps her hands like a little kid.
"Yayyy! We'll go shopping on Wednesday ok?"
"Wait, we'll need to go to go shopping too? Gabbie come on!"
"Then what are we going to wear?"
"Uhm... I"
"Exactly!"
The school is becoming more crowded and noisy. We're still sitting here, not saying to each other a word. We watch all the students coming into school. I don't know if she is thinking the same thing but all in my head now is: Wow! Life runs so fast. I remember the first day I met Gabbie at kindergarten. We had so much memories together. It feels like the other day we were just playing Barbies now we're here, freshman year. The bell rings as it cut my thoughts.
"Oh, I need to go now or I'm gonna be late"
"Ok bye Gabbie! See you at lunch"
She walks down the bleachers, half way through the basketball court. She turns around and screams at me:
"I still can't believe my best friend is a YouTuber!"
"Gabbie. Please keep it down"

I open my eyes. It's Wednesday and like Gabbie said, I'll need to go shopping with her.
Text convo:
Liza: Wednesday, shopping?
Gabbie: Aww. I'm glad you don't try to avoid and forget about it
Liza: lol. No
Liza: I'll pick you up at your house after school then.
I yawn and get out of bed, do my morning routine and go to school. What a long school day. Maybe because I can't wait to spend time and go shopping with Gabbie this afternoon. Wait what?

The final bell rings. I quickly put my books into the locker, grab the stuff that I need and run to the parking lot. I get into my cars and come home. Mom is still at work. Everything is so quiet. I change my school backpack to a smaller one. I put my purse and phone in. I drive to Gabbie's house. I knock on the door and a little boy opens it. That's Gabbie's little brother, I suppose.
"Hi Liza" He says with a big smile. I bend down to his level to hug him. He continues:
"Gabbie is in her room. She's coming down in some minutes"
"I'm ready!" Gabbie walks down the stairs.
"Let's go Gabbie. I need to come home before dinner"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We arrive at the mall. It's been a while since I last went here. We immediately jump to shops and shops and try on loads of clothes. It's more like running a marathon. What did we talk about those hours? "Try this on!", "Nah, next!", "How about this?", "Looks pretty cute on you!", "What do you think?"
It's 5PM and I need to go home, or mom is gonna be so mad. We load my car with hundreds of different bags with all kinds of brands. OK I exaggerate it. I counted and there were 18 bags. It's crazy to think we only each use one outfit that night.
I drop Gabbie off. I'm impressed how she holds 10 bags and still manage to open the door.
"Bye Gabbie. See you tomorrow!" I wave at her.
She looks back at me
"Ok bye Liza!" and gets in the house.
I drive home and walk in the house.
"Hi mom! I'm home"
My mom is cooking dinner. It smells so good.
"Hi honey. Why come home so late?"
"Oh, I went shopping with my Gabbie"
"How many times have I told you to leave a note or a message every time you want to come home late, young lady?"
"I'm sorry mom. I promise this will the last time!"
"Well, what are those clothes for?"
I tense up a bit. Should I ask her to go to that party?
"Don't lie to me. I already know"
Wait, how? I haven't told her anything. I swear I look so stupid right now. She laughs:
"Are you going to a party this Friday? Gabbie's mom just told me this afternoon"
Damn it. No wonder she knows so well
"Well... yeah. Mom, please, can I go?"
She pauses for a while. I look at her and she turns to my direction:
"I agree, but remember don't do anything stupid and STAY AWAY FROM ..."
We both say "Alcohol" at the same time and laugh.
To be honest, I'm not interested in alcohol at all. I don't get it why people actually enjoy being drunk and spitting some stupid things out of there mouth.
"Mom, thanks for trusting me. I love you!"
"I love you too, sweet heart! Now let's have dinner"
