Love That Destroys

They said "he isn't the one for you."
But I wanted to be by your side.
They said "he'll destroy you."
But they didn't know the pride
I felt when I looked at you.

So tell me why'd you go and
Betrayed the love I felt for you?
Why did you go hide and
Kiss her mouth and her hand
When it was me who would die for you?

I never would've imagined
That the one who'd become the sun
Of my life was never mine to be destined
But he were to be hers truly one.

So tell me why did you pretend
To bring me the light?
And now who's going to mend
The shattered pieces of my heart tonight
When the night will stretch on to the bitter end
And I'll have only myself to hug in the cold night?

And now that I lay awake on the bed
I realize that loving you wasn't the scariest part
But it was knowing the dread
Each time I felt since I gave you my heart.
Because trust has often been misled
By all the no good people ever since the start.
And knowing the promises made were by a loose thread
I still gave you the key to crumble my whole life apart.
