They could
crush her spirits
and throw them away
to rot on the ground crumbling
her hopes below
spiralling down deep
into the never-ending void

They could
throw her hopes
and cut the ropes
crumble all of her
to the dust
and leave her to rust
ignoring her wearying tries
breaking off all the ties
that held her together
and kept her home

They could
drown out her stifling cries
living in pretence
of the world being honest
carrying on with their falseness

But even after
the stains
and the scars
that tainted
her heart
and her soul
she raised herself
off the ground
dusted off the pain
and walked ahead
with a new destination
in her mind accepting
her new self
