Viola
"You want to go back to the Unknown?" Adelene asked me. "Why?"
"You know it well, Adelene. If there's any way we can find Riley, without Snow getting to us, that would be it."
Adelene seems unsure, and she looks down at the floor. "I'm not sure, Viola. The Unknown is difficult to get to."
"Adelene, we don't have a choice here. Look, we have to get close enough to Riley, to get the Darkness. We've figured out part of the prophecy. Now we just need to be able to put it into action."
The conflict in her eyes was clear to me, what I couldn't figure out was why. We've already been there, and the only one that would be in any danger was me. She had nothing to worry about. She was a Vampire. She was fine. There was no way that she cared that much about me. So why was she so against this?
"Okay, fine," Adelene says. "But listen, Viola, there's something you should know. It isn't impossible for Snow to get to the Unknown. She's been there before and the place was created for her anyway, so it's very possible that we could just be cornering ourselves. With blood-addicted Vampires all around and Snow, that would be a scary combination."
As much as I heard, there was only one thing that intrigued me. "The place was... created for her? By who? And why?"
Adelene pales visibly. She swallows, and quickly begins to backtrack. "I meant that the people who created it created it because they knew she... she was addicted to the blood." It was a dumb lie and we both knew it, but I didn't ask anymore. Despite the fact that the Unknown intrigued me to no end and the person who created it intrigued me even more.
Adelene was hiding something.
And I wanted to know what.
"Let's go then," I say, ignoring the fact that she told me a lie.
As we turn to go, Red suddenly grabs me, out of nowhere. And he looks frantic. Which alarms me. "Viola, you have to get out of here. Take Olivia, Jasmin, and get out of here."
"Whoa, whoa," I look up into Red's eyes. "What's going on?"
"It's Count Constantine. He's ordered his men to arrest you. He thinks you'll attempt to stop the units from getting to Riley." He looks up at Adelene. "Take them to the Unknown and hide there."
There were sounds of struggle in the hall, and I could hear voices yelling, which sends my heart into a frenzy as I think of what could possibly be happening, and who the sounds could belong to. I look back at Adelene, and she looks frightened as well.
I rush to the door, despite Red's warnings to stay away. And when I fling open the door, I see it.
Two soldiers holding down my sister, with her face pressed down to the floor. I reached for my sword, but then I feel someone rush me and press me against the wall. I hit the wall so hard a painting fell and hit the floor, making the glass shatter.
"Viola and Olivia Chase, you are being locked up," I looked up at the man at the end of the hall, and of course, it's Constantine. He's standing with Count Alexander, the Russian Count. The two of them looked pleased and it pissed me off to no end. "It is for your own safety." Said Count Constantine. "With you out of the way, we can go forth with the plan to aid the host."
"You don't know what you're doing!" I snapped, trying to get loose. "Riley got it wrong!" I tried again when it didn't seem like anybody was listening to me. "The Prophecy, it's not what you think. She's not supposed to take on the Darkness!"
"No?" Count Alexander questioned, in his heavy Russian accent. "My dear, you mind your tongue. We don't want that kind of thing getting around. It's best to just take care of the Darkness now. We can kill two birds with one stone this way."
