My Paradise- Part Nine

Splash! The clear, cool, water of the ocean engulfs. I open my eyes to see all the pretty, gorgeous, and colorful fish swimming around me. Their glittery gills shine like painted mirrors. I stay under for as long as my lungs will permit. When I come up from below, I take the biggest gulp of air before dashing back to my fishy friends.

Now here comes a stingray that I have named Cookie. I named this stingray Cookie because it has black spots dotted across its back that remind me of a chocolate chip cookie. Cookie must like it when I swim beside him, because he always slows down enough for me to swim beside him. He will sometimes even swim with me up to the shore.

Vum. Vum. Vibration waves vibrate through the water. My head quickly pops above water. Clanking. Metal Clanking. After taking a huge gulp of air, I swim back to shore-Cookie does not follow. I pull on jeans and a tank over my swimsuit and dash into the forest. Hoping that my wet feet did not leave a trail to follow, I climb a tree.

Clank. Clank. Thump-thump. The clanking draws nearer and nearer, causing my heart to pound harder and harder. Just when I think, it could not get any worse, Mr. Arrogant shows up.

"Halt. Did you find her?" questions Mr. Arrogant. All the guards come out from marching in the woods. They stop marching right underneath my tree. My breath goes into stealth mode, while my heart cannot stop pounding.

"No sir." All the guards respond. "Her place is empty sir." They spoke in perfect, chilling unison.

"Well where is she?"

"We do not know sir." This reply causes Mr. Arrogant to drop the mask of control and cool, and become a big baby.

"I want her. I want HER!...I WANT HERRR!!!!!!!!!!" Ha-ha, let's through a tantrum why don't we? All the guards are quiet. It is time for them to move on, for my sake. Minutes drag on and on, each one feeling as if it were a year. The silence doesn't help any. There the guards stand, four by three, each one standing like a statue with blinking eyes.

Beads of sweat dance on my forehead, some even slide down my face, slowly and drip off my chin. Water droplets are drying on to my skin. I dare not wipe a single bead of sweat from my face, or water droplet from my arm, knowing that a single sound can give me away. Adrenaline is starting to run through my veins.

"Dismiss.", Mr. Arrogant commands, his face is still red from his tantrum. Finally, I can leave- so I think. Instead of sulkingly stalking off into concealing forest, Mr. Arrogant stays put, and crumples to the ground. Come on. Come on. Come on. I think frantically to myself, but all Mr. Arrogant does is look up to the sky; again, I study his face. This time though, his face shines hard with determination, all the happiness is gone. His eyes are no longer filled with hopes of finding out who his dance partner is but instead glisten with fresh tears. Those piercing peridots still stab my soul, seeing into my core. Maybe I should go and comfort him. NO! I will not. He can cry, beg, pray or whatever but I will not under any circumstance go and comfort him. Just go already.

I keep these thoughts to myself, and continue to watch Mr. Arrogant. His eyes are no longer wet with tears, but instead glow with anguish. Finally, he decides to leave. I wait for seven minutes before I clamber down the tree and head for my home.

Only to my surprise, I find my door busted in, and my neat and organized home distorted and thrown into a state of chaos. All of my things scattered everywhere; rose petals litter the floor everywhere. Each rose petal looking like a drop of blood. Tons of blood everywhere. For an instant and only an instant my knees go limp, and crumble, causing my body to fly to the floor. There a murder has taken place here and there is a body to prove it.
