I looked over at the big teddy bear Dante won for me at the Carnival last week. It was out first official date as a couple. Yay! It was so nice. He’s the perfect boyfriend. I felt my phone vibrate and I picked it up.
“Hello?” I said falling back into my bed.
“Hey babe.” His voice rang happily through my ears.
“Hey!” I said as a wide smile appeared on my face.
“I miss you.” He said with a sigh. “I’m used to seeing you every morning during the school week and now we have a Friday off.” He added.
“Well I’m going to see you in like two hours to shoot an episode of He said. She said.” I said cheerfully.
“But that’s so far away.” He groaned.
“Yea, I know. I wish you could come over.” I said twirling a piece of my hair between my fingers.
“But I can’t.” He said distastefully.
“Maybe one day you can. Maybe one day when the war between our families is at a calm moment we can tell them and they’ll just have to accept it.” I said hopefully.
“Yea maybe. Right now everything seems to be calm, maybe we can tell them soon.” He said matching my optimism.
“Yea. It’s only a matter of time. Trust me. Everything’s going to work out.” I said convincingly.
“Hopefully.” He whispered. “Anyways babe, my dad’s calling me so I should I need to go.” He said sighing.
“Tell your dad I say hello.” I said jokingly.
“Yours too.” He replied laughing. “See you babe.” He added.
“Bye.” I said before hanging up. As I set my phone down I heard my stomach growl. “No need to growl at me, I will feed you.” I said to my stomach before rolling out of bed. I made a sandwich and scarfed it down before washing my plate and heading for the stairs. I was stopped when I heard a yell and a loud smashing noise. I turned to my dad’s in home office before walking over to it. I knocked quietly on the door.
“Come in.” He barked. I slowly opened the door before creeping inside. “Hey baby.” My dad said before wiping his face with his hands. His whole demeanor changed. He went from angry to soft and gentle. I took this as a sign to step closer to him.
“Are you ok dad?” I asked gently.
“Yea. I’m fine sweetie.” He said with a fake smile.
“I heard yelling and a loud noise.” I said taking a couple steps closer to his desk.
“It was nothing sweetie.” He said looking up at me.
“You don’t have to lie to me daddy.” I said taking a seat in a chair in front of his desk. “I’m not a little girl anymore.” I added seriously.
“I know honey, but I’m always going to see you as my sweet baby girl.” He said reaching over and grabbing my hand. I smiled warmly at him.
“Tell me what’s wrong dad. Let me help you.” I said squeezing his hand.
“Alright honey.” He said patting my hand and releasing it. He opened up his laptop. “It’s those damn D’Angelo’s again.” He said causing my heart to stop.
“What about them?” I asked biting my lip as my palms started to get sweaty.
“They’re at it again. Once I think everything is calm they go and do shit like this to get everything heated up again.” He said clenching his jaw.
