Ashlyn was putting on her shoes when there was a knock at the door, her dad was asleep on the lounge chair and showed no signs of waking up to answer it, so she quickly went over and pulled it open

"Hi," Dean said with a giant smile

"Oh Dean, hey," she replied

"Um, I brought this for your dad, he wanted a bottle of old fashioned whisky for when he has his family gathering and I just so happened to have a bottle at home, thought I'd bring it over," he said, putting the bottle closer to her

She took it and thanked him

"Anything else?" She asked, after a solid minute of silence

"Oh yeah, so I remembered you saying you worked at a flower shop, there's a patient in my hospital with hardly any family that visits her and I'd like a bouquet of yellow dandelions to cheer her up please," Dean told her, rubbing the back of his neck

"Oh," Ashlyn said, that was sweet of him

"Well I'm not opening the shop till later today, can I drop it at the hospital?" She asked him

"Oh yes, of course, just ask for me at the front desk," he replied

She nodded and after a goodbye, he turned and walked back across the street, past Finn who was walking up the stoop

"Who was that Lyn?" Finn asked, leaning in to hug his best friend as they walked into the house

"That's the next door neighbour, that's Dean Ambrose, he's a neurosurgeon." Ashlyn told him

"Besides that, he's also gorgeous!" Finn screeched, looking at her

"Is he? I hadn't really looked at him," she admitted, putting some lettuce from her salad in her mouth

"Yes Ash, he's perfect, tall, handsome, blue eyes," Finn said playfully elbowing her

"I'm not gonna repeat this love thing, you know how things with AJ turned out," she said with a sigh

"Honey, Allen was a jerk who was stupid to let you go, that was 2 years ago, you need to start looking again," Finn admitted, taking up a cherry tomato and plopping it in his mouth

"I want to Finn, I want to fall in love again but I can't get hurt again," she admitted

Finn sighed and then smiled

"C'mon Lyn, let's get to work," he said, picking up her backpack while she woke her dad up to tell him she was leaving

When they got there, she immediately got started on the dandelions, when she was finished, she made sure she looked appropriate enough for the hospital

She left Finn in charge and made her way to the hospital, she asked for Dr. Ambrose and they paged him down

It was approximately a minute when she saw him, he was in black jeans, a blue V-neck and his lab coat on, his hair haphazardly over his forehead and his doc martens laced up tight, okay so Finn was right, he was attractive

"Hey Ashlyn," he said with a smile as he walked up to her

"Looking good today Dr. Ambrose," butted in the receptionist

"Thank you Renee," he thanked, making her blush before he looked back at Ashlyn and motioned her to follow, which she did

They walked to the 3rd floor of the building and Dean opened the door for Ashlyn and as she walked in, her heart broke.

There was an old woman, lying on the bed, connected to at least 50 wires and she looked so fragile

"That's Mrs. Beatrice Miller, she has brain cancer," Dean told her and she gasped

"She's an incredible person, her husband died of a heart attack last spring and her son lives in Connecticut," he spoke

Ashlyn followed as Dean took some steps towards her

"Good morning Bea," he said cheerily  making her smile

"Morning Dean," she replied

"This is Ashlyn, she's a very close friend of mine, she's got something for you," Dean said and Ashlyn smiled and handed her the bouquet and the way her face lit up brightened the dull white room

"Hi, Mrs. Miller," Ashlyn greeted

"Oh none of that sweetie, call me Bea," Mrs. Mill-uh Bea, said

She and Ashlyn began a conversation about different types of flowers and how much they had on common and about Ashlyn's mom and how she absolutely adored the flower shop while Dean looked on, catching Bea's eyes as Ashlyn got ready to leave

"It was nice meeting you Bea, I'll see you Dean," Ashlyn said as she waved and left

Dean looked at the door with a fond look and then back at Bea to see her with a smug smile

"What?" He asked

"She was gorgeous Dean, and it's so obvious that you like her." She spoke and Dean's jaw dropped

He closed his mouth then opened it again to retort, but she looked at him like 'no shit' and he closed his mouth again and busied himself

It was later in the evening when Ashlyn got home from Finn' s place and was walking up the front stoop when she heard men yelling from inside the house and realised her uncles were here

She rolled her eyes, she was not going in there, too much testosterone for her to handle and she was sure they were watching a football game, she didn't mind football, but hell she didn't like when her family watched it, they got violent and quarrelsome

She thought for a minute, it was too late to go back to Finn's house, then she mentally cringed before she crossed the street and up the two front steps of the big white house and knocked twice on the front door

"Ashlyn? Hey," Dean breathed as he opened the door with a bowl of minced meat in his hands

"Hey, uh, mind if I hang out for an hour or two?" She asked him

Dean opened and closed his mouth before agreeing and opening the door wider for her to pass

"I'm making tacos, make yourself at home," he told her and she nodded, sitting on the bar stool, watching as he moved briskly around the kitchen

She kept thinking if this was a good idea or not but she decided to let it be
