Mason gives his father a heartless glance. “I'm not hungry.”
He proceeded to shove past his father but Malcolm grabbed his arm.
Mason turned back at him angrily while Malcolm put on a somewhat angrier face. “NEED I REMIND YOU WHO…. “
“‘The superior power is’ and all that jazz” Mason said mockingly but he had done that so many times he was bored.
“If I sit and eat will you shut up and leave me alone?”
Malcolm was even more annoyed but he calmly said “A fair compromise, alright.”
Mason moved into the cabin-like dining room. Almost everything was made of wood and glass. The floor was made like tiles with light and dark shades of wood in each square. There was a glass china collection on the wall with a mounted deer head next to it.
The table was in the middle with a glass oval in its center.
Sara was sitting at one end and there was a empty seat at the other, clearly for Malcolm. Mason sat down in that seat and looked at the rest of his “family.”
Mariya was sitting (rather conveniently) at the corner to his right with Raymond on the left, then after them Dick right and Carol to the left.
Malcolm didn't even glare at his son as he pulled up the spare and sat next to his wife. He grasped her hand and she jumped. Sara turned to him and smiled, but when she turned Mason noticed a bruise on the side of her head by her ear.
Mason was going to ask but was cut off by Dick talking to his son.
“Say Raymond, why don't you tell your aunt and cousins about your trip?”
“Again? Me and my class went on a field trip to RocketMen Tech Inc. and I won an exclusive internship for the summer.”
“And if he decides to complete that he gets a full scholarship to their business institute where they are doing there research on M. I. D. Tell ‘em Ray”
“Molecular Identification. It finds the elemental structure of any material. It will be easier for us to mine fossil fuels without harming the environment as much. “
They watched him, The Gaecz'e family stared at Mason. Mariya was trying to no shake her leg from nervousness, Carol and Rick were waiting for the outburst, Malcolm being ready for it.
“What? Your expectations will not be met, I'm not going to get angry for your amusement.” Mason calmly said.
Mariya felt a flash of hope. “Wait, your not mad?“ Mason turned his eyes to her. “Oh ho, no. I'm furious, I just won't give them the pleasure of seeing it.”
“Oh well that's great.” Carol said” Look how your son has grown, Malcolm.”
“Why yes it is. Let's put this new found self control to the test, shall we?”
Mariya turned green. “Uncle stop! This is not a good time or place for this. Just stop!”
But Malcolm ignored her, just clapped his hands and like clockwork Carol spoke.
“How's business, Malcolm?”
