Chapter 4

I woke up on the cold floor of my school. I couldn't remember a thing. "Get up. You fell, loser." Stacey said to me as she walked away. I stood up and headed toward my classroom. I opened the door and walked back in. "Welcome back." My teacher greeted me. 

The school day finished out pretty normally. Vee, Kat, and Lilia were all sorry that they left me behind. I couldn't stop thinking about what Stacey said, though. Jacob talked about me all the time?

Days went by, and nothing really changed. Jacob would try to talk to me, and I'd walk away. Jacob would text me asking to hang out, and I'd ignore him. My friends would come over and we'd all hang out. It felt as if life was stagnant.

I woke up Friday morning and checked my phone. A message from Jacob as usual. I kind of felt like giving up at this point. Why not give him a chance?

Jacob: You free anytime soon?

Me: how about tonight?

Jacob: Really?

Me: sure, why not

(School Outfit Pictured Above In Media.) When I arrived at school, the hallways were buzzing. I got to my lockers and saw Vee already standing there. "Hey Vee, what's everyone talking about?" I said, looking confused. "Jacob broke up with Stacey this morning. Apparently, no one has ever broken up with her." I couldn't help but wonder if he broke up with her because of me. What am I saying? I was just hating this guy 2 seconds ago.

I got to my first class and sat down beside Jacob. He smiled at me as I sat down. I smiled back for once. He leaned over and whispered to me. "I have a surprise planned for tonight. Something exciting." I looked at him and raised an eyebrow. "You know this isn't a date, right?" He looked at me and shrugged it off. "I wasn't even thinking like that." Crap. Now it looks like I want it to be a date. Which I don't!

My first class ended and I walked to my second. It was science, which I hated. The only good thing was that Liam was in my class. I walked in and sat my stuff down. "Good morning everyone. We're doing a lab today. With partners." All the girls squealed and looked at their best friends. "But I'm choosing the partners." A bunch of girls in the corner booed. I was listening for my name when I caught myself daydreaming about what Jacob and I were going to do tonight. EMMA. STOP. You don't like him! "Emma and Liam." I looked at Liam across the room and smiled. He returned the smile as he headed over to my desk. "Hey, Emma. How's it going?" "Fine, how about you?" Liam smiled. "Excited for tonight." Tonight? What was- Crap! I completely forgot that I was going to the movies with Liam tonight! How am I going to tell Jacob? The one time I say yes to him and I have to cancel! Unless I canceled with Liam...

Science class went by pretty fast and soon we ended up at lunch. "Hey girls, how's your day been?" I greeted the girls as I sat my lunch down. Soon enough, Jacob walked over to us and sat down beside of me. "Sorry, since I broke up with Stacey, I don't really have anyone to turn to." Lilia, Vee, and Kat all crossed their arms and turned away. "I'm really sorry you guys. Stacey really is a snob, and I have no clue what I was thinking when I left you guys for her." Ugh. I had to give in. "You can sit with us." I gave the girls a stern look and mouthed, "Be nice!" Oh, how the tables have turned.

The day carried on and of course, all my classes were boring. I text the group chat with just the girls in it and told them about my situation.

Me: so what do i do? do i cancel jacob or liam

Vee: i dont know girl

Lilia: i think this is a decision you should make on your own

Kat: jacob

Vee: kat!

Lilia: let her make her own decisions!

Kat: ugh you guys are no fun

Me: i seriously need some girl help

Lilia: and this is seriously a decision you have to make on your own.

Vee: ^^ we arent the ones going on a date with those guys

Me: ITS NOT A DATE

Kat: suuuure

What was I going to do? The girls were no help. How am I supposed to make this decision on my own? Do I cancel on Jacob, and potentially hurt him for good? Or do I cancel on Liam, my crush for 2 years now that has finally asked me to hang out? I would cancel on Jacob, but he's gotten his hopes too high, and I don't want to hurt him any more than he's already been hurt.

*FLASHBACK TO MOVIE MONDAY*

"So how has Jacob been hurt, exactly?" I said, glaring at her for letting him into my house. "Something that no one knows is that his dad abused him when he was little. His mom didn't know about it until 2 years later. His dad is in prison now with different last name. They have a restraining order against his dad, and his dad is not allowed to talk about what happened. Or he will be sued." I immediately regretted being so mean to him. That didn't mean I was going to start liking him, it just meant that I was going to start being careful with I said to him. "Oh my god, that's awful." Lilia shook her head and looked back at Jacob. "The worst part is, it wasn't even that long ago. Jacob is still traumatized by it. He flinched when we came in and your dad tried to give him a hug to welcome him." I finally realized that I had gone too far. I hadn't given Jacob a fair chance. But this didn't make Jacob any less annoying or conceited.

*FLASHBACK OVER*

Who will I choose... Jacob or Liam?
