Chapter 15

The school day carried on pretty normally. I couldn't stop thinking about Mark and Stacey, though. They haven't even been dating that long. Lunch arrived and Jacob was sitting beside me. "Psst, Emma. I've been meaning to ask you, are you two a thing now?" Vee asked, scooching closer to me. "Um, yes." That felt so weird. Admitting that I'm dating Jacob? Lilia and Vee walked with me to the next class, which was English. We all had this class together, and Stacey, Mark, and Jacob were in it, too. "You go ahead. We'll catch up with you!" Vee said to me, dragging Lilia to the bathroom right beside of us. Ok, that's definitely weird. We never exclude each other out of anything. As soon as I reached my class, I texted the group chat without Jacob in it.

Me: where did u guys go!!

Vee: i had to use the bathroom its no biggie

Me: lilia??

Vee: oh she's not feeling well

Me: so when are u guys comin to class

Vee: can u tell the teacher that we won't be there? lilia is sick

Me: what about u

Vee: i'm here for moral support

Kat: wats goin on

Me: wow... thanks for including me in your 'moral support'

Vee: i'm sorry

Ok so that did make me mad. I can't believe I was left out of comforting my best friend. It's not even that. It's the fact that Lilia turned to Vee before me. I thought we were best friends? Now that Lilia and Vee weren't coming to class, I would have to sit through English class with no one. Well, I had Jacob. Jacob walked into class right before the teacher, and he sat down next to me. "Hey babe." What did he just call me!? "What did yo-" He cut me off by nudging his elbow towards Stacey. She was staring us down. "Oh, hey - hi - hey 'baby'". Jacob was trying his hardest not to laugh. I glared at him. "Wow, really smooth." He whispered to me while chuckling. "Shut up!" I crossed my arms and turned to the teacher.

Halfway into the class, Stacey and Mark caught my attention. They were sitting in the back corner of the class. I tried my hardest to eavesdrop. I could only make out a few sentences. "I'm not doing this anymore!" Mark said to Stacey. "You'll be done when I tell you to." After that, the bell rung and it was time for the next class. I ran to tell Lilia and Vee what I had just heard, but then I remember what they had done to me. I couldn't tell them. "Hey." Jacob said coming up behind me. He wrapped his arm around me. "Ok, I need someone to talk to." I said grabbing the hand that was wrapped around me. "I'm listening." "So today in English, Stacey and Mark caught my eye. It looked like they were fighting. I heard Mark say he was done and Stacey told him that he wasn't done until she said he was." Jacob stopped walking. "What?" He said looking at me. "I know. I don't know what going on. Do you think we should ask Mark?" I said. "Of course!" Jacob said, walking fast to Marks next class. I laughed at how anxious he was.
