I was on my way to his house. I had made my decision. I knew who I was going to choose. I knocked on his door. My hands were sweating, and it felt like my whole body was shaking I felt like this was the start of something. Something good. Whenever someone answered, it was not who I was expecting.

"Stacey?!" I looked confused at her. What was she doing at Liam's house? Liam came walking down the stairs with- yes, I know- lipstick all over his lips. "What's going on here?" Stacey laughed and held Liam's hand. "Didn't you hear, sweetie?" Liam looked at her and he shook his head. "We're back together." I looked at Liam and gave him a look of hurt. I turned around and walked down the porch stairs. "Forget about tonight," I said, not looking back. As I turned the corner, I heard Stacey whisper-shout, "Tonight?! What was tonight?!" I looked down at the ground my whole walk home. I let tears stream down my face. How could I be so stupid as to think Liam would actually want me?

When I reached my house, I tried putting my key in, but it didn't work. I kept jiggling the handle, hoping to get in. My mom and dad weren't home yet, and there was no way I was calling my brother. Finally, the handle gave in and I opened the door. I walked into the living room, only to find a confused family staring at me. "Oh my gosh, I am SO sorry!! I thought this was my house... I must've missed it." I smile nervously and walk out of the house. "Emma?" I look back as I hear a familiar voice. Jacob is standing at the top of the stairs. "Are you okay?" He asks me with concern. "Yea I'm fine." I had to get out of there. I can't have Jacob knowing what just happened. It'll crush him to know I was going out with Liam instead of him. "No, you're not. Come here." I couldn't help but walk up the stairs. As we walked to his room, I tried to hold back the tears. We sat down on his bed. "What's wrong?" I looked at him and tried to smile. "I'm okay, really. Everything is fine." He knew my smile was fake because he opened his arms and hugged me. I tried not to cry, but instead hug him back. As he continues to hug me, he says, "Emma, if something is going on, you can tell me." Should I tell him? I don't know. I don't even like this guy. "Please, Emma. Tell me what's going on," Jacob pleaded one more time. I sighed and held back the tears. "Liam has been my crush forever, and just as I thought something might happen between-" I lost it. I was full on bawling.

About 30 minutes later, I had finished crying and we had talked everything out. Honestly, I felt a lot better than I did before. Then I remembered that I had told Jacob we could hang out tonight. He said he had something special planned. "Hey, do you still want to do that 'surprise' tonight?" I looked at Jacob, in hopes that he would say yes. Shouldn't the roles be reversed here? "I don't know. I don't want to make you go anywhere that you don't want to go. Maybe we can reschedule." I shook my head and stood up. "No, it would really be great to get my mind off of this whole situation. Do you mind if I used your bathroom to freshen up?" He pointed towards the bathroom. I washed my face because I had mascara streaming down my face. I didn't have any makeup on, but I guess it didn't really matter at this point.

Once I freshened up, it was about 10 minutes later. I walked into Jacob's room and he said he was ready to go. I grabbed my stuff and we headed out the door. Maybe Jacob isn't so bad anymore.

Hey guys! It's Emma here! 💖 I know this chapter is a lot shorter than most, but I wanted to start making more chapters with shorter lengths, than fewer chapters with longer lengths... If that makes sense. Comment what you want to happen next! I love to hear from you guys!

A: Mine would have to be a cat! They're just soo cute!
