Chapter 12

It's Monday and back to the grind. 6 am came way too early as usual. I did my make-up extra today, since it was my first day back in 3 months. I put on a casual outfit for school. (Pictured Above in Media.) 

After I got ready for school, I walked out and waited for the bus. A few minutes later, some guy walks out of the house next to me. "Who are you?" I said as he walked up. Crap, that sounded rude. "Nice to meet you, too." "I didn't mean it like that. I just meant I've never seen you around here." He laughed. "It's ok. I know what you meant. And I'm Mark. I just moved here." Wait, Mark? Could this be the Mark that Stacey was talking about? "Oh, nice to meet you. I'm Emma. Do you know anyone here yet?" Around that time, the bus pulled up. "One girl and a guy. The girl's name is Stacey." He said as we got on the bus. STACEY? So this is who Stacey was talking about! I have to tell Jacob... but who's the one guy he knows? "So who's the guy you know?" "Oh, it's no one. You probably don't know him." We sat in our seats. "You can sit with me on the bus since you don't really know anyone." He looked back at Stacey, then back at me. "Okay." He shrugged his shoulders and sat down. I needed him to sit beside me to get information out of him. Who is this guy he knows and why is he already dating Stacey?

5 minutes later, we pulled up to Jacob's stop. He got on and went to sit where he normally sits, only to find Mark there. "MARK!?" Mark smiled and stood up to give him a bro hug. "Jacob! I wanted to surprise you. We moved here!" Jacob just stared at him. "Why did you mov-" He looked down with a confused look. "Wait- Mark." "Yep that's my name! Am I sitting in your spot? You can sit there! I'll go sit with Stacey." He walked away, but then turned back around. "Guess you do know him!" Mark shouted to me while walking to the back of the bus. Jacob sat down and stared at his  feet. "So that's Mark." He said. "Yes, I didn't realize you knew him." I said, worried about him. He looked like he had just seen a ghost. "Yeah, he's another internet star. Mark Thomas. Surprised you haven't heard of him." I shook my head. "Nope. Are you two friends or something?" "It's complicated." That's all Jacob said. How can a friendship be complicated? "Woah, dude. Sounds like you're in a relationship, there." He moved my hand off his shoulder. Jacob seemed upset. "Mark and I go way back. We've been best friends forever. We both got into the music business. We worked as a team, until only I got offered a contract with a producer and he didn't. He went off the grid for a bit after that, and no one heard from him. This is the first time I've seen him in 2 years."
