Niall’s POV

It had been a week since the accident and there had been no progress with either Genevieve or Maddie. I had only talked to Harry a couple times and each one he said Maddie had no memory of who she was, but she is happy and healthy. Every time I stopped in to change my clothes or take a shower they were out. Harry’s idea of ‘regaining her memory from places in London’. The doctors had said that Genevieve was no better or worse. There was a huge scare a few days ago. It was the middle of the night and I was asleep in the chair beside her like I had done every night. I heard a high pitch sound and was jolted awake. I looked over at her monitor system and it was no longer displaying her heart beat, the doctors then came pouring into the room. I was ushered out and was only able to see her hours later. They said her heart stopped four times. Each one for at least thirty seconds. They still don’t know what happened but now she is in a deeper coma than before. I’m starting to lose hope in her ever coming back.

I was going to my apartment to change my clothes. I got my door and it was unlocked so I just slipped in, Harry and Maddie must just be watching TV. I got inside and the first thing I saw was that the apartment was a mess. Clothes were all over the floor, the kitchen was a disaster, and it looked like nothing had been put in its proper place in days.

“Hey!” said Harry walking out of the spare room with nothing more than a pair of boxers on. “What are you doing here?” there was a bit of worry in his voice.

“I came to pick up a pair of clothes. What happened in here?”

“Well, see, um, we didn’t really, uh, have any time to clean”

“You do realize you have been here for over a week and have had all the time in the world”

“Except Maddie and I have gone everywhere” he said sitting down on the couch. “I’m trying to get her memory back; I really am, except nothing is working. We went to Lego land the other day. I was hoping that would help.

“Are you mental? Maddie hates long lines. Why do I even trust her with you? You only met the day of the accident. Harry, Maddie is coming with me back to the hospital to see Genevieve. Maybe then her memory will come back. Where is she?

“She’s in the shower, but Niall, I can help get her memory back. Just give me one more chance”

My phone then buzzed, telling me that visiting hours at the hospital started again in thirty minutes.

“You have till Saturday morning, that’s tonight and tomorrow morning. If her memory doesn’t regain soon I will have to take her back with me and see if hanging around Genevieve will help it”

“And how is she doing? Genevieve I mean. Any progress”

“None at all. If anything it has gotten worse. You and Genevieve are friends too, remember that. Don’t waste all your time hung up on Maddie. Genevieve’s okay for now, but if and when she does wake you will have to remember to come see her”.

Harry wouldn’t look me in the eyes after that so I went into my room and grabbed a pair of jeans, boxers, and the first T I could find, which happened to say ‘Free Hugs’ on it.

“Give Maddie my best, but I have to get back to the hospital” and with that I was out the door and heading back to Genevieve.
