Calum's POV

Well, thank goodness that was over! I was happy the guys had taken it so well, no dramatic faints or all that.
Everything I had felt for rachel, had now gone, now that I knew the truth. We were still at Miranda's house, and kept chatting and laughing with eachother. It was funny how a group of guys and a group of girls have so much in common!
The girl called Aalya spoke up. "So guys, what are some of your hobbies, what do you do in your free time?"
Eric replied,"Well, these guys have a band. They left me out...."he whimpered, letting us all laugh at his puppy dog face. Eric chuckled and spoke again. "Nah, it's just I'm not Ono all that band stuff. I just let the guys take over and all!"
The blonde girl called Alex giggled a little too loudly. We all looked at her,and she flushed a shade of beetroot red. Eric winked at her and she turned purple.
Michelle cleared her throat."So, what's your band called?"
"Five Sounds of Summer!"replied Michael.
Luke groaned loyal and mock punched him."Mike, it's five SECONDS of summer!"
"Same thing..."he muttered, grinning widely.
We stayed for another hour, still oblivious to the fact that we has SO much in common. Every now and hen I would see Christina glance and Ash, Luke wink at Michelle, Alex returning Eric's smile, and Rachel carefully eye Mike. I felt a little left out, just as did Aalya and Miranda.
The girl called Noelene was on her phone the whole time. She was pretty, but obviously taken. She smiled every now and then, probably because if her boyfriend, it sonething. My thought was confirmed as she muttered 'Dylan'
When we got up to leave, we reached out to hug everybody. As I hugged Eileen, I felt something very weird in my stomach. Something warm and fuzzy. I pulled away and grinned at her. There was a glimmer of hope in her eyes, and I'm pretty sure my face mirrored hers.
"Bye guys! See you at school!"called Miranda.
Eugh, school....

Rachel's POV

School. After the overwhelming experience of yesterday, school seemed so.... ordinary. I pulled on a baggy blue top and shorts, and rushed to the door, grabbing a myself bar before leaving.
I walked into first period maths just before the bell. Mr James walked in behind me and smiled. "Nice to see your on time, Miss Howin."
I smiled sheepishly and turned to look at Calum.
"Hey Calum!"
All he did was look down to the table, with a flat face.
"Calum? What's wrong?"i whispered.
He just looked at me blankly, then looked away. From he edge of my eye, I saw Layne, all her attention on us.
"Calum, what's wro-"
"Rach, jut leave it, okay? I'll talk about it later!"
I muttered an agreement and turned to Mr James. I saw Miranda and Eileen's worrying glances, and nodded twice to assure them that everything was alright. But was it?

I raced after Calum as he rushed out of the classroom. I screamed behind him. "Calum! What's wrong!"
He kept on running, towards what looked like the guys bathroom. I sighed, and stepped in.
"Cal?" my voice echoed through the empty walls.
He was crouched in a ball on the fall, crying. Crying hard. I felt really bad for him.
"Some bad happened, Rach."His voice broke on the word bad.
"Bad?" What could be this bad to make Calum react like this? he kept on sobbing, as I comforted him.
"My- our mum... she had a stroke..."
I drew in a breath. Tears started welling up in my eyes.
"The doctors say she doesn't have long left. They say she will last until tonight..."
I was crying in his arms, crying my heart out. I had known my mother for what? Less than a day, and now fate had decided to take her away from me? I ignored the buzzing sounds coming from my phone in my pocket, and stayed in Calum's arms, sobbing. Life was cruel.
