Shanks x Reader

A/N~ Hello everyone I'm back again with a new chapter. So now that my Sabo story is completed I'm going to be putting my focus into this book. Like with the Sabo story and because of school work I'm only going to post a chapter maybe once a month. Also a shoutout to siwonloveani92 who put in the request for this and another chapter. I really hope I don't disappoint you. In the meantime I found that getting a request helped me to be able to focus on a single character so feel free to request guys! Depending on which character gets the most that is who I'll focus on next.~

It felt cold and stung like hell when you hit the water. You couldn't help but to gasp when the pain hit you, causing you to shallow a heap of liquid. The burning feeling in your lungs just made it worse and you barely heard the splash beside you or saw the shock of red-hair come into view before you passed out.

When you woke up you were instantly sitting up and coughing up the seawater you had swallowed earlier. The burning from before still somewhat present as you tried to regain your breath. Someone was patting your back as you did this and you presumed that this person was probably the one who had saved you.

"Good to see you're alive. Had me worried there for a second." The person said before shouting "Hey Ben! Could you come over here and check on her? You're the doc here, not me!"

You couldn't believe your own eyes at the sight of the two men helping you and thought for a moment that you must be hallucinating. But the faces of the two men, especially your red-headed savior, were unmistakable. They were definitely the actual Ben Beckman and Shanks Le Roux, the fact that the three large scars on Shanks' face were undoubtedly real and not some make-up effect was probably one of the biggest clues to this. Yep. I'm definitely in for one hell of an adventure.

~About six months later~

Somehow through Ben's insisting you got put in charge of the crew's bank account. He probably thought that you were the most level headed choice and with how much the rest of them liked to drink, he's more than likely right. Which is why while the others were once again partying it up you were the one discussing fees with Makino and trying to figure the cost for all of the other supplies that the ship required.

By the looks of things some of the crew were going to have to collect food themselves, either by gathering various plants or hunting and fishing. Plus the endeavor could take a few days on its own. The tab these hooligans, that you now practically saw as your family, were raising was just too much and Makino could only be so lenient while also running a business.

But in the meantime while you were here you took the chance to kick back and admire the adorable scene of kid Luffy trying to convince Shanks to let him join the crew. Honestly though, you were glad with where you ended up in the timeline of One Piece. Yeah sure, most fans would want to see the grown-up versions of Zoro, Sanji, Law, etc... but right here at this time and on this island is where the whole adventure was about to begin for Luffy. And that made the experience of being there all the better.

Plus it was moments like this one where Shanks showed potential as a big brother or father type figure to the young boy that reminded you why you grew to love Shanks so much...not that you would tell him though.

Later you were hunting with Yasopp and some of the other members. Usually you were pretty decent with a crossbow, but today you were like a freaking monster.

"What's got you so stressed?" Yasopp asked.

"Nothing really." You replied.

The sniper huffed. "C'mon don't give me that. Let me guess? Something to do with your feelings for the Captain right?"

You blinked and looked at the man for a moment. "How did you-"

"It's not that hard to figure out with the way you look at him. And as a married man I do know a thing or two about love you know."
