We drove back as in a room of the building Abigail was getting checked up and managed to take a nap, I was laying right next to her under her arms as the parents walked out. As if the wind blew on its own, a man walked by...I could smell the gun powder on him; he was not any person and he was illegally doing something. I barked at him as he walked by the door as then he was shocked and jumped, he hand his hands up and trying to hush me, "E-easy there, little one, y-you need to get your friend out of here! B-Be quiet!"

An emergency fire alarm was pulled then a blasting flame engulfed the building; the man was gone under the fire. Abigail was up, coughing as I barked and helped her up and we waked out the door. I could hear Bently barking like a wild fire himself, I followed the noise as then a rubble blocked me from Abigail o the other side of the building, we were split up. Bently barked into the fire, "Lilly!! Hold on!"

Then the man went down on his knee and got ready to unleash Bently then spoke in his ear, "Go get them, tiger!"

Then with a click Bently ran in into the fire and yelled for me, as he was the man coughed as Bently growled as he knew he wasn't right. He bit his pants and pulled him out to safety and the cops immediately detained the man, the mother rushed over but the father held her back, she yelled, "MURDERER! You killed my daughter!"

"No," he coughed, "S-She is still alive, I-I couldn't get to her because of your..."

Then the father grasped him by the collar and cops trying to pry him off, he spoke up, "This is our only surviving child, if she dies the blood is in your hands..."

The man shed tears, "I didn't want to do this, but this place needed a fire to burn...I don't want to see the place my son died in...I couldn't take the burden...I didn't know....she was found...I thought you were still on the hunt..."

Bently then looked back at the fire and K-9 units came out and looked at him, then one spoke up, "Go get them!"

Bently rushes in and yells for me once more, "Lilly! Lilly where are you?!"

I barked on the other side of some rubble, "I'm here! I'm trying to find Abigail, some of the rubble broke off from the roof, cutting me and her off!"

"Where did she head to?" Bently said from the other side of some rubble.

I spoke up, hacking, "She went down the hall at the lab, hurry!"

Bently nods as I tied to find a way out, Bently managed to slide through under the rubble but got burned on the back as he grunts, but he rushes to find Abigail. Abigail coughed as she yells, "Help! Anyone hear me?!"

Bently barked and managed to get to her, h found an unbroken window as he jumped right through it and barked, wounded.

The firefighters rushed over and helped Abigail out as Bently hopped right back in before the cops caught him, he yells for me, "Lilly! Lilly, respond! Lilly!!"

He finds me trapped in rubble as he noticed the top was about to collapse on me, he slid in and grabbed me, running out of the line of a collapsing roof, I coughed slightly getting out of my daze, he spoke up, "Lilly, hang in there..."

As then a loud bang was heard as he then noticed the oxygen tanks behind the desk, if that catches under the flame, it will explode us all. He rushes to the exit, while being scratched and burned left and right across the rubble that he passed by. Abigail then yells my name while sitting on the truck, "Lilly!"

The cops then backed everyone up quickly as they saw the oxygen tanks in the fire, Bently made it two paws out the door before.....BANG! All of the building exploded with hell's fire engulfing the house in a cannibalistic flame. I managed to get up then looked around and yelled, "Bently!"

I rushed over to the dog, half near death as 3 paws were already in his grave, he breathes heavily as i nuzzled his jaw, "Come on! Get up! You can get up, can't you?"

Bently exhaled with a chuckle, "I can barely breathe..."

I look at his broken and battered body half burned on the backside and half of the front part of his body, gasping and drinking the moist blood his body spilled. I spoke up, choking, "I-I don't understand...why did you save us?"

"Because...you showed me what a courageous dog can do," Bently said with deep breathes, "You...made me believe not all humanity is bad...I believe what you said was true now...no ordinary dog could do that without training...and at your age...you'd probably be able to just learn to sit and lay down...you gave me hope, give hope to the others for me..."

I whimpered, "No...It was supposed to be me...not you..."

"My time has come, Lilly," Bently said gasping his final words, " It was expected for me...you...still have much to learn...I have said my peace...and peace...I shall have...thank you...for lighting my way back home..."

Bently exhaled one final time as I looked at the flames then whimpered...all were silent...I then took it to the tears I held and howled as memorial of him...my howl was deep, yet it was loud as all the service dogs even bowed their heads and then laid down paying respects in the background without no need for their owners to tell them to. The mother and father held Abigail close, trying to hold in tears, Abigail couldn't hold hers in and whispered to herself, "Thank you...Bently..."

I howled as some wolves even howled back in the distance as I laid by Bently's head until in the flame I could see a light glow, one on four legs and smiling back at me, Bently. He disappeared in the flames that pierced the heavens, as the staircase to his home, now he rests among the service dogs, and their owners to one day be reliving their lives once more when someone needs them most...
