Chapter 21

The boys run into my room attacking me with hugs and dropping their bags on the floor.

“Callie!” They squeal. I even get a small hug from Niall. Boys must have had a chat with him.

“What is there to do in this place?” Louis asks.

“Be sick.” Says Liam. He doesn’t seem very comfortable. Then I remember. He had medical problems when he was younger.

“My mom is gonna freak when she sees you guys here.” I say.

“Then hopefully she won’t find-“ Zayn starts as the door creaks open. In walks my mom, Daniel and Jarrod. My mom freezes and looks at the boys. They shrink at her gaze.

“Callie?” She asks looking for an explanation.

“One Direction?” Jarrod half asks, half explains.

“That’s why there are so many girls outside!” Daniel explains.

“You know who One Direction is dad?” Asks Jarrod.

“What are you talking about? I’m hip!” He exclaims. Jarrod groans. “But why are they here.”

“She’s dating that one.” She says pointing to Liam.

“No mom, this one.” I say shoving Harry forwards.

“You know.” Daniel says, putting his arm around Zayn “I have some mad singing skill.” Zayn laughs awkwardly.

“Daniel!” My mom exclaims.

“Have you even heard these boys sing?” Daniel asks.

“Well I saw one of them on X factor.” She mumbles. I fumble for my Ipod. It’s still in my back pocket. I unlock it and turn the speakers on full volume and start to play Save You Tonight.

My mom listens to the opening where all of the boys sing together. She shrugs as Daniel sings along.

“Okay dad, that’s enough.” Says Jarrod, pulling him out the door.

“You need to rest Callie.” Says my mom. “Everybody out.” The boys all groan.

“They can stay mom.” I say.

“Well, I have to go back to work. Make sure you can get some rest and Daniel will be checking on you.” She says. She walks out the door.

“PARTY TIME!” Shouts Louis.

“I’m tired.” Says Zayn. Everybody agrees that they are also tired. They sprawl out on various chairs that are lying around the room.

“GOODNIGHT EVERYONE.” I yell. But all of them are already fast asleep. My eyes flutter closed. When I wake up, It’s quite dark out and according to my Ipod it’s already 11:30. Niall is rummaging around in his bag, and he’s the only one awake.

“Hey Nialler.” I say sitting up. He jumps, obviously startled.

“Callie.” He turns around. For the first time, I see his hand. It’s swollen with a cloth messily wrapped around it. It’s oozing puss and through the gaps of the cloth I see that it’s a nasty purple color. He sees me staring.

“It’s nothing. Look Callie, you don’t know how terrible I feel. I am so sorry!” He says. “And I’m sorry I didn’t apologize sooner, it’s just-“

“Niall, it’s fine. It’s completely my fault.” I tell him.

“But-“

“My fault.” I say. Liam grunts and opens his eyes.

“EVERYBODY UP!” He shouts. Within a matter of minutes everybody is up.

“I’m hungry.” I say.

“Let’s get food.” Louis says. He’s just finished his sentence when a nurse walks in, carrying a tray of food and sets it in front of me. Then she hands me a cup of pills and a bottle of water.

“Swallow these, they’re painkillers.” She grunts. I swallow them and drink from the water bottle. She walks out without saying anything else.

“Eew hospital food.” I say, pushing it away.

“Let’s go get Callie some real food!” Suggests Harry.

“I want McDonald’s.” I say.

“What from McDonald’s?” Asks Liam, getting out a pad of paper from his pocket. Oh Liam, always prepared.

“A chicken nugget Happy meal. But I want medium fries, not small. Make sure they’re medium.  I want Diet coke but not caffeine free, do you hear me? Also, make sure it comes in the fun box, not the bag. I don’t like the bag. And get me sweet and sour sauce. If they don’t have that, ranch. I will only accept those two. Got it? Oh and make sure they don’t put in those gross apple slices because they could contaminate my junk food. And tell them I want a pink or orange my little pony toy.” I finish.

“Okay did you say Sweet and sour or Honey Barbeque?” Liam asks, consulting his notes.

“SWEET AND SOUR DON’T YOU LISTEN? AND MAKE SURE IT’S HERE BEFORE ONE, CUZ I CANT EAT AFTER ONE!” I yell at him.

“Sorry sorry, okay.” He murmurs, scribbling on his little notepad. The rest of the boys place their order and Him, Niall, Zayn and Louis take off, because our orders were too big for just one person to handle. A few minutes after they leave a nurse walks in looking very irritated.

“Is Niall Horan in here?” She asks frantically.

“No he just left.” I reply. “Why?”

“We have to run over the procedure of the surgery with him and he has to Okay it.” She says. “Now I really have to go.” She walks out the door.

“Why would they have to do that? They already went over it with me and your mom. Why Niall?” Harry asks.

“I don’t know. Maybe because he caused the accident.” I reply shrugging.

“But why would he have to okay it?” He asks.

“I honestly have no idea, but I hope the boys get here fast, I can’t eat after one.” I say. Harry nods and starts to hum the tune to Save You Tonight. With that, I fall fast asleep.
