The day flew by, the two friends went back to get another coffee (Ryland's treat) and then just spent the rest of the day walking around to whatever interested them.
It was now 5 in the evening and Luna was told by Ryland that she should head home since it would get dark in a few minutes. She listened to him and made her way home with him at her side. They parted ways and each entered their houses. Luna was met with the familiar emptiness of the house as she plopped her bag back down by the front door.
She immediately went to the kitchen, feeling extremely hungry since she didn't seem to eat much throughout the day. Luna decided to heat up some soup since she didn't feel like preparing anything too special.
The microwave beeped and she pulled out her lukewarm soup and set it on the kitchen island. She pulled out a spoon and placed it next to the bowl. Then an idea struck her, she quickly went to where her backpack laid and opened it. She found the book she had checked out on Friday along with her notebook and pen.
So as she ate her soup, she began to pick up where she left off, taking down notes when she felt necessary. Her night didn't get much more exciting than this and as her night came to a close, she turned to the next page in the book. And she saw a drawing with a description.
The picture had a lot of detail in it, it was a little gruesome as it did contain the image of an old-timey male vampire viciously killing a seeming damsel in distress. His face was marked with blood and his lips were set in a vicious snarl, his fangs on full display. The woman looked to be screaming in agony as her neck was all torn and bloody.
Luna closed the book, shocked at the image that was just in front of her. She shook her head and closed her eyes trying to clear the graphic image from her memory. She saw that she had been sat for a few hours and thought it was time to get ready for bed.
------------------------------
Monday mornings always sucked, and it didn't help that Luna had math first thing in the morning. She groaned out loud in response to her alarm and shoved a pillow over her face. Her alarm went on a little longer until she decided to turn it off with a huff.
Luna threw her covers off with attitude, feeling especially irritable this morning. She stomped downstairs, knowing her hair was a royal mess and made her way into the kitchen.
She settled for cereal and a granola bar, knowing it would be just enough to hold her over until lunch. Speaking of lunch, she carelessly threw together a peanut butter and jelly and grabbed an apple from the fruit basket that sat on the counter. She wasn't feeling up to getting dressed properly for school but forced herself to wear something semi decent. She threw on a white oversized shirt, black boyfriend jeans, and her trusty dirty white sneakers. She quickly brushed her teeth and washed her face and fluffed her curly hair a little to get some of the tangles out.
She slipped on her glasses and rushed down the stairs to meet Ryland at the door.
"Hey." She said, slightly out of breath from running down the stairs.
He looked serious.
"Grab your bag we need to talk."
Luna was confused, has she missed something?
Luna did as she was told and grabbed her pre-packed backpack, shoving her lame lunch into the big pocket. She grabbed her coat and threw it on before flinging her backpack over her shoulders.
She touched her pockets to make sure she had grabbed everything she needed before locking up her house and turning to Ryland and began walking with him beside her.
