VALENTINE SAT IN FRONT OF HIS boyfriend at the coffee shop. the british boy was so tired from the events the that happened the day before. his eyes were itchy and he had deep-set bags under his eyes that made it look like he hadn't got any sleep at all. "you okay baby?" vj asked and valentine looked up from his phone. he was hurting himself even more by reading over the things that finn had said to him. "yeah. i'm fine" valentine said and shut his phone off, setting it on the table. there was silence between the pair before vj ran his hand over his jaw and looked at valentine in the eye. "can i ask you a serious question val?" he asked and valentine felt his gut clench.
"sure." he said and vj let out a sigh. "where are we going? with this relationship?" valentine was a little shocked. he had absolutely no idea where this question was coming from but before he could answer, vj started talking again. "cause i just feel that we're going nowhere. all the energy has been sucked out of the both of us because you're hung up on one boy. we've been together for 9 months and finn's been a prick to you for one and suddenly all your focus has shifted from this relationship to him." valentine swallowed, his hands shaking under the table. "do you have feelings for him?" vj asked and a jolt went through val.
"what? no! why would you say that?" he said, his voice breaking. "because you don't pay enough attention to your surroundings when your with him. you tense at the mention of his name. you think about him all the time and i know you do." valentine felt bile rise in his throat. "that's because i don't know why he hates me! it came out of nowhere and if you heard the shit that he was saying then you'd understand!" vj ran his fingers through his long curls and sighed. "that may be the case, but it doesn't change the fact that this, us, isn't working." valentine knew that vj could hear his heart shattering. and the australian boy didn't care one bit. "i think we need to take a break."
despite wanting to protest, valentine nodded. he knew it was for the best. and so the two boys sat in silence until it was time for dacre to come and pick them up.
