the sun shines for the boy sitting on a bed in yoongi's dorm, or it seemed so.

he discretely stared at boy as he unpacked his few belongings, yoongi never needed much. the boy, on the other hand, had many miscellaneous figures, small house plants, and posters of edgy looking teenagers and naked giants. yoongi was grateful that sun boy hadn't noticed him staring, he was busy fussing over an old looking sketch book, with pages sticking out from the sides and he could see coffee stains here and there.

yoongi places his last item, a simple cactus, on his desk then sits on his bed. the air was awkward and tense, wanting to clear the tension (and find out sun boy's name), he decided to introduce himself.

"yoongi," he said, catching sun boy's attention, "min yoongi."

"oh, i'm jung hoseok. nice to meet you," he boy replied, smiling the brightest smile.

"pleasure," yoongi nods. hoseok goes back to sketching and yoongi stares at his hands.

a minute pasts and it becomes awkward again. yoongi hated it. small talk made him uncomfortable but tension was worse.

"what are you here for?" he asks the obvious question.

"contemporary art, you?" hoseok says. that explains the sketch pad.

"creative writing."

"nice. i'm not good at putting my thoughts into words, so i applaud you."

"thank you."

"so where are you from? i'm from gwanju myself. i've always wanted to come to seoul for university, right now is a dream come true."

"daegu."

"cool, i've never been to daegu, is it nice there?"

"it's okay."

"gwanju is nice but that's just my opinion on it. i've lived there my whole life so i guess you learn to like it."

yoongi zones out of the conversation and focuses on hoseok instead. his curled brown hair framed his longish face perfectly, the small mole on the left side of his top lip, and the way his whole face smiled made yoongi's heart flutter, especially his eyes. he wore bright, zany graphic shirts and pale, ripped jeans. yoongi spotted a worn pair of red converse high tops sitting at the base of hoseok's bed. the striped striped sheets crumpled from where he sat. the bed side table was populated with random jewellery and figurines of the edgy teenagers: a small blonde one, an angry looking one who wore a red scarf and one with emerald green eyes.

"hey yoongi, wanna get food?" hoseok asked.

"sure," yoongi shrugged, he was going to spent the next few years with this kid so the least he could do was try and get to know him.

"yay~ let me get ready first," sun boy chirps, jumping up off his bed and bouncing over to his wardrobe.

yoongi went to his own closet and pulled out a long, black coat. it was unbelievably cold out, around 3 degrees celsius. he glanced over to hoseok's wardrobe and the whole thing was an explosion of colour and pattern. he looks back at his own dull one, all his clothes a different shade of black. yoongi prefers to blend in and watch from the sidelines, his nickname was "wallflower" in high school, he didn't hate it nor did he wear it proudly.

"you ready?" sun boy says brightly.

yoongi just nods and walks to the door of their dorm, he exits and waits for hoseok to follow. hoseok nearly skips out of the room and the two make the their way down the hallway to the exit of the building. when they make it outside, the icy air surrounds them. it hasn't snowed since christmas and now january is ending. it's just been wet and cold. hoseok didn't seemed fazed by the chilly air and smiled at yoongi. hoseok's mouth turned into a heart when he smiled, yoongi thought it was quite cute.

the two boys walked along a path leading off the campus, their breath condensates and turns into clouds. yoongi stares at his feet and shoves his cold hands into his fluffy pockets.

"hey, if you don't mind me asking, how old are you?" hoseok asks, still smiling.

"19," he answered still not making eye contact. yoongi took a gap year after graduating high school, he wasn't sure what he wanted to do so he took at advantage of the gap year to decide.

"oooh, that means you're my hyung, i'm 18."

yoongi nods and sighs a little, he didn't go out often and ordered take away most nights. his parents were too busy nowadays, yoongi learnt to become independent and enjoyed solitude.

"where do you want to eat, hyung?"

"you choose."

"okay, then we're nearly there."

"mhmm."

shortly after, they arrive at a small restaurant called The Wonderer (강나루, kang na roo). it was a quite narrow, cozy looking place and was pretty empty.

"hoseok-ah, how did you find out about this place?" yoongi asked the younger male.

"i came here on my first day in seoul," he began. "they make really nice bibimbap."

hoseok pushes open the door and entered, holding it open for yoongi. yoongi walked in and looked around the place. it was family run, the restaurant looked rather homely and an uninterested teenage girl was stationed at the register.

hoseok smiled at her and sat at a table, he waved at yoongi, beckoning him to sit as well. he sat across from hoseok and the uninterested girl, who he assumed was their waitress for tonight, arrived at their table. she placed two menus down and went back to the register without saying anything.

yoongi opened the menu and skimmed through the options until he found the meat dishes. the bulgogi caught his eye.

the girl returned to take their orders. she mumbled, "hello, welcome to The Wonderer, how may i help you?"

"you order first, hyung," hoseok said.

"i'd like a beef bulgogi and hite, please." yoongi ordered his meal.

"i'll have the kimchi fried rice and bong bong," hoseok chirped.

the waitress jotted down their orders and went to the kitchen to deliver them. yoongi hoped it wouldn't take too long because he was starving.

"hey, hyung," the sun boy grinned.

"what is it hoseok?" yoongi snapped, not meaning to.

"i've seemed to have lost my number, can i have yours?"

"did you just use a pick up line to ask for my phone number?"

"yes, yes i did."

"aigoo, you could've asked normally."

yoongi put out his hand for hoseok's phone. he handed it to him and yoongi punched in his number then handed back to hoseok.

"thanks, hyung," hoseok smiled sweetly.

"you're welcome," yoongi doesn't make eye contact with the other male.

"your drinks," the waitress returns and drops off the beer and grape soda, she smiles at hoseok and walks away.

"i bet she has a crush on you," yoongi says bluntly.

"naw, you really think so?" hoseok tilts his head a little and looks at yoongi with an innocent expression.

"yes, she keeps smiling and looking at you."

"you never know, she could like you."

"i doubt it."

"hmm, true. you need to smile more. like this~" hoseok cups his face and smiles as cutely as he could, showing off his dimples (which made yoongi's stomach butterflies very excited).

"she's not my type anyway." yoongi shrugs.

"then what is your type?"

"preferably someone with a penis."

"oh," hoseok turns pink.
