yoongi was in the library again, jungkook had magically found him as well and nestled into the armchair next to yoongi's. he was comfortable in jungkook's presence, jungkook didn't seem to steal everyone's attention like hoseok did it felt like you'd somehow find yourself staring at jungkook. he had this intimidating and intense aura around him, in reality jungkook was still a kid, goofy and carefree. yoongi peered up to see jungkook huffing, his wavy hair falling over his string eyebrows.
"jungkook-ah," yoongi called.
"yes, yoongi-hyung?" jungkook looked up, eyes bright.
"tell me about yourself."
"sure, what do you want to know?"
yoongi thought for a second, what did he want to know? he wanted to ask an interesting question, he didn't want to be called boring to talk to again. yoongi gave up and he finally said, "tell me about your childhood."
"well, i had a normal childhood," jungkook smiles and points to a small scar on his cheek, "my brother and i fought about sibling things, that's how i got this scar! it was funny, we were fighting over the computer. i actually play a lot of video games still, my favourite is overwatch.
i also played a lot of sport, as you can tell from my course. i enjoyed wrestling a lot, as well as running . i've been told i'm quite an ambitious person." jungkook laughs to himself."sounds nice," yoongi nods hoping jungkook would keep speaking. he did.
"i wasn't the best in school. i mean, i passed most classes, i only really excelled in phys ed. english was probably my worst, got a 4/100 on an exam once," he chuckled, then his expression saddened, "i never had many friends. i'm not sure why. i think it's because i'm either hard to socialise with or that i don't want to put in the effort. i never had enough time for friends though, it was sport and gaming 24/7. it didn't mind, in fact, i preferred being alone."
yoongi smiled ruefully. he spent most of his childhood all in his lonesome too. it was nice, there's a difference between loneliness and solidarity, yoongi likes solidarity much better than loneliness. he spoke, "jungkook-ah, what do you want to do after uni?"
"i want to get a job to do with sport, definitely. i want a family. i want to settle down with someone i love and spend the rest of my life with the person who i love like myself. it's boring, i know, but it's comfortable and quiet. i also hope to travel the world too, i want to see and i want to learn," jungkook confesses. yoongi was happy to see he has some sense in him.
"it's not boring, it's a pretty good life," yoongi says.
"thanks, yoongi-hyung."
"you're welcome."
yoongi quite likes jungkook. quite a lot actually.
——-
yoongi leans against the dorm door, pushing it open. when he walks into the room he sees hoseok huddled on his bed with a small figure who's head was covered in pale blonde strands.
it was jimin.
yoongi couldn't leave again, that would be weird. he panicked and dropped his worn backpack onto his head, shortly joining it. jimin looked up briefly, realises yoongi is back and immediately looks back down. yoongi decided he just wanted to ignore the two. hoseok waved at yoongi when he walked into the dorm but didn't look up after that, they seemed to be in the middle of something either important or much more interesting than yoongi.
yoongi pulls his headphones around his head and connects them to his laptop, turning the sound up so he could block out his surroundings. he wanted a knife to cut the close to unbearable tension. he side eyed the two kids on the other bed. yoongi felt something he hasn't felt in a while and hurried back to mucking around on his laptop. yoongi felt a finger tap his shoulder, grasping his attention.
"hey, hyung!" a familiar, bright voice says.
"yes, hoseok-ah?" yoongi replies not looking at hoseok.
"want to get food with us?" hoseok invites him, yoongi looks up and sees jimin standing awkwardly behind hoseok looking at his feet. does he want to put up with having jimin around? no, he doesn't.
"no. i'll find my own food," yoongi answers turning back to his laptop screen which showed a website you can follow a line on, pretty useless.
"your choice," hoseok shrugs and turns to the door, beckoning jimin to follow him, jimin does what he's told and follows hoseok out the old, creaky door.
yoongi was alone again and was able to process his thoughts without the tension that made you feel on edge. he wondered how close jimin and hoseok are and what they do together. yoongi felt that it was a silly thought, it's not like he owns hoseok (yet) or jimin (not anymore), "they're just friends," yoongi muttered to himself, he has this silly habit of overthinking everything and it really annoys him.
the sky grew darker and the night felt colder, and yoongi's personal sunshine was out fraternising with the enemy. the blinds to their dorm was still open and yoongi could see the dark clouds twisting and dancing across the sky. it's quite calming. he closed his lap top and set it aside, he climbed out of his bed then made his way over to the wardrobe. yoongi returned to his bed in his pyjamas, he checked the time, 9:45 pm, he needed food. yoongi got one of the instant ramen packets from under his bed, not caring one bit, yoongi bites into the raw, dry noodles and opened his laptop again. yoongi has been working on the story he discussed with jungkook at the library, he liked how it was sounding so far and hoped he could submit this for an upcoming assignment. yoongi hoped professor kim would also like the story, he knew that professor kim always enjoyed stories with deeper meaning behind them, ones with morals and hidden messages.
——-
hoseok returned shortly after yoongi finished his ramen looking quite flustered, his smooth cheeks was dusted a light shade of pink. it sure seemed hoseok and jimin had a lot of fun, yoongi scoffed.
"yoongi-hyung!" hoseok was bursting with energy and excitement.
"what is it?" yoongi kept his head turned towards the computer screen.
"i think i like jimin."
yoongi's stomach dropped, "oh."
