the room felt cold. yoongi felt cold. hoseok still smiled wistfully, swaying slightly before falling onto his bed. you'd have to be stupid not to see that hoseok really did like jimin. yoongi watched him, hoseok's cheeks were dusted a rosy pink and he wore a content smile, his eyes sparkled and he look as if he was a million miles away.

"oh, yoongi-hyung," hoseok said, "he's just so charming and adorable."

"tell me about it," yoongi replied and rolled his eyes.

"i will then," hoseok's voice brightened, "jimin's personality is adorable if you ask me, i don't know how to describe it, you know i'm not good with words. i guess he makes you feel warm and safe, maybe it's because he's so caring and sweet. jimin is very considerate, and funny! oh, his laugh is the cutest thing, he sometimes squeaks, did you know that, hyung? it gives me butterflies when jimin laughs at my jokes. and don't get be started on his looks, he's practically perfect! i don't know how his jawline is so sharp and his cheeks are so round. he has the cutest puppy dog eyes, it's impossible not to fall for them! don't you think, hyung?"

yoongi shrugged. he had painstakingly dealt with jimin's charms before. yoongi hated it. he hated how hoseok is following in yoongi's careless foot steps and he hated how he knew that hoseok was going to end up with his feelings hurt, but yoongi didn't have the heart to tell hoseok that jimin hurt him. yoongi loved seeing hoseok and if he had to try and get rid of his crush then he would do it, he would do it so hoseok could be happy with jimin. it was kind of inevitable, both hoseok and jimin are hospitable people vwho brighten up the room. yoongi also hated how hoseok and jimin were perfect for each other.

a few minutes passed, hoseok was humming a stupid love song to himself. yoongi stuffed his laptop into his backpack, he looked anything but presentable and didn't care he looked at hoseok said, "i'm going out."

"but hyung, it's getting late," hoseok pouted a little.

"that doesn't really matter," yoongi walked towards the door.

"but hyung..." his voice trails off.

"i'll see you in a bit," yoongi pushes the door open and leaves.

the grounds are peaceful. yoongi was seated under a tall, grand oak tree. it's branches hung low and cast shadows across the grounds which were dotted with students during the day. it was spring now, the air was still crisp and chilly but more bearable than the frosty winter weather. it was quiet, yoongi realised it was quite late and he might look stupid sitting alone at this time of night. he couldn't care less. yoongi's mind was flooded with worries, mainly about hoseok. he was worried that jimin would dump hoseok like he did with yoongi. he laughed ruefully to himself, poor hoseok, yoongi and hoseok are pathetic, falling for the charming heartthrob who treats his exes like dirt.

yoongi leant back against the trunk of the tree, his laptop balanced on his lap. the gentle breeze rustled the leaves and yoongi felt calm. memories of his relationship with jimin came to mind again, specifically the sweetest one.
it was the middle of summer on a hazy afternoon that felt like it had no end. the warm sun made you feel lazy and dreary. yoongi and jimin lay side by side in his backyard, watching the clouds pass in the pale, blue sky with their finger intertwined. yoongi turned to jimin and pulled out a promise ring, 'jimin-ah, sweetheart, i love you,' yoongi smiled as jimin took the ring and slid it onto his finger.
'i love you too, yoongi-hyung,' jimin pecked yoongi's nose and looked at the ring. yoongi watched jimin, he was very beautiful that day, everything felt more beautiful that day. jimin's words were sweet honey and his touch was pure gold. yoongi was on cloud 9 on the seemingly perfect day, it was definitely a midsummer's night dream. jimin's fringe fell and lay, scattered across his forehead. the sky turned shades of orange and pink, trees turned into silhouettes and the chirps of birds became fainter. evening was approaching, putting an end to the dreamy afternoon. yoongi could not have felt for more content. he was happy.

unfortunately all good things must come to an end and you have to face reality again. yoongi was transported back to the deserted, dark, lonely university grounds. the colour seemed to face, they were dull and drab compared to the soft, romantic, lulling colours if the memory. yoongi missed having someone to love. as much as he hated trusting people and learning to try and properly love again, yoongi was lonely and sad. it wasn't like the solitude which yoongi enjoyed a lot, but it was like a child being left at a bus stop, yoongi felt abandoned by love all together. or he abandoned love all together. yoongi looked at the time on his laptop screen, 23:16, he didn't realise how much time he had wasted reliving the summery memory. he had many memories which felt like heaven but this one was important, it was the memory in which yoongi promised himself to jimin. it was the memory when yoongi was truly vulnerable.

——-

yoongi moped back to his and hoseok's dorm. hoseok was probably asleep by now or just really tired. yoongi slid under his heavy duvet covers and sighed. if he could start today all over again, he would. yoongi would try and get closer with the sweet jungkook and try to persuade hoseok that jimin is cold-hearted and rude. yoongi's pale eyelids grew heavy and he blinked his eyes shut. yoongi felt himself drifting off into a much anticipated and much needed sleep. the light of the moon shone on hoseok's bed.

the sun meant so much to the moon.
