My name is Elena Evans. Most people just call me Lena or Lala. My mom called me that.
I'm seventeen years old and a junior in high school, I'm turning eighteen in a few months.
I have long, wavy dark chocolate brown hair, rose red lips, golden brown skin, and hazel eyes.
For the past two days, I've lived in a tent in the forest. I had to rest somewhere for now, since I was really tired from the drive to Forks from Los Angeles. But, Forks isn't a strange place.
I used to come here every summer when I was a kid with my parents, Mark and Amy Evans, but this time I made this trip by myself.
I put the tent in my car (blue Mustang convertible, what can I say? I love fast cars!) and change my clothes.
I am now wearing dark blue skinny jeans, knee high black boots, and a royal blue V neckline sweater with a black tank top underneath. I brush my hair and part it on the left before it automatically goes back into its natural waves.
I drive to a house, stop the car, grab my purse, go to the door, take a deep breath, and knock on the door. It's opened by a tall, dark haired man wearing a police officer uniform.
"Hello, may I help you?" he asks kindly.
"Hello, are you Charlie Swan?" I ask the man as I read his badge.
"Yes." he says as he nods.
"May I talk to your wife, Sue, please?" I ask nicely about the person I really want to see.
"Sure. Hey, Sue?" he says before calling her name.
"Yes?" she asks from what I think is the kitchen.
"There's someone to see you." he replies.
She comes out of the kitchen, drying her hands. She sees me and her eyes widen. "Amy?" she asks me.
"No, I'm not my mom, Aunt Sue." I say, feeling a bit sad.
"Elena, it's you! Oh my goodness, you've grown so much! You look so much like your mom, except for your hazel eyes, of course. No one knows where you got them." she says, happily.
At this, I smile, weakly. I remember when Mom told me that...
"Where's your parents?" she asks me, looking to see if they might be behind me.
My smile fades quickly. "Mom and Dad died." I say, sadly, water slightly filling my eyes.
She gasps at this. "No!" she says as she starts crying painfully before she sinks into her husband's arms.
"Hang on, how do you two know each other?" he asks us both.
"My mom, Amy, and Aunt Sue grew up together, went to high school and college together too. And after I was born, we came here every summer and most of the school holidays." I explain to him as I force my tears go away.
"How did they die? When did they die?" she asks, tears streaming down her face.
"They died last month. They were on a date and a drunk driver hit them." I tell her. "Mom said in her will that she didn't want you to know and go to the funeral. She wanted me to come to Forks and tell you myself."
When I heard that they died, I locked myself in my room and didn't sleep or eat for three days. I just cried and screamed.
"This is her will." I say as I hand her an envelope that layed in my purse.
But, the will isn't the only papers in there. There are adoption papers as well.
Since Sue is my godmother, Mom was prepared if her and Dad had an untimely death and Sue would adopt me.
Mom and Dad already signed the papers. Sue reads the paper and looks at me.
"Are you sure that you want this, Lena?" she asks me, her tears stopping for a moment.
She's asking if I want this, not Mom.
"Yes!" I say, in full confidence, smiling.
She nods and a faint smile comes on her face. "Charlie, can you get me a pen, please?" she asks her husband.
"Whatever you say, Sue." he says, smiling at both of us.
Even though he doesn't know me, he trustshis wife, and now he's going to adopt me.
"The judge already signed it." she says as he leaves to go get a pen.
"Good, saves me a trip with judge Doom." he replies, sarcastically.
I chuckle at this. He's pretty funny. He signs it, then Sue signs it. I am now officially Elena Swan.
I like the sound of that.
