"You hungry?" Danny asked as soon as I got into the car.

I nodded. He smiled before backing out of the driveway and headed down the street.

"If I didn't know any better,I would say you just like taking me on secret dates."

"Well,it is dinner time and I know I don't have anything at home but snacks and I don't want to starve you."

"Nah,you just like taking me on dates."

"You want it to be a date?"

"I never said that." I smiled before chuckling a bit.

Danny shook his head before turning up the radio a bit more.

It was about an hour later that we finally got to Danny's place. I plopped onto to couch as Danny took off down the hall before coming back with a blanket wrapped around him as well as another in his hands. He placed the other one in my lap before joining me and putting on Game of Thrones where we had left off before. It didn't matter too much since we got to talking and the show eventually was just background noise for us.

Talking with Danny was nice. He didn't push me to talk about myself or my life. He let me when I wanted to. We mainly just shared stupid stories of things we did as teens, but I got to know him better. I was glad to have another friend besides just Suzy and Arin.

After conversing and laughing for a couple of hours,we decided to play a few video games before calling it a night since it was now past one in the morning.

"Oh shit. It's late. I can take you home if you'd like."

"I don't mind staying here,Danny."

"Cool. I don't have my guest room set up just yet but you can take my room."

"I'm fine with the couch."

"No,I insist. I wouldn't be much a gentleman if I didn't."

"If you want me to sleep in your bed, you'll have to drag me there. I'm not taking your bed from you."

"Alright fine. Good night, Ellie."

"Night." I called as he walked away.

A few minutes later, after I laid down,I felt myself being lifted and thrown over a shoulder.

"Fuck,Danny! Don't do that!"

"Come,we'll share the bed."

"Fine, fine!" I laughed as he carried my to his room.

He sat my gently on the bed before climbing in as well. We said good night once more before heading to sleep.

Well,Danny did anyway.

It took me awhile to fall asleep. Laying in bed at night is when I let all my thoughts flood my head. Most of the time,I thought about my parents. It still hurt to know they were gone. They would never see me get married or have children,if it ever happened. I would never see them be proud of me,or smile,or laugh ever again.

I don't know how long I had been laying there or when I started crying. When I realized I was,I slowly got up and made my way to the living room. Curling up on the couch,I sobbed quietly like I had done every night for so long now. I felt like I would for the rest of my life. I thought it would be easier by now,but when all I did for the past few years was spend every day with them, taking care of them,it was hard to let it go.

"Ellie?"

I slowly looked up at Danny to see the sad, concerned look on his face.

"I'm sorry. I didn't want to wake you." I whispered.

"Don't worry about it. Come here." He said moving to sit on the couch and opened his arms to me.

I leaned over into his before his arms wrapped around me.

"This should be easier by now."

"Hey,you lost your parents. Nothing about that would be easy. No one is judging you for still being upset over it. It's normal."

Danny rubbed my back and hummed a song. My tears slowly stopped as Danny once more lulled me to sleep.
