Rose’s POV

“W-H-E-R-E    I-S    L-I-S-S-A-A-A?”

My screams reverberated throughout the ball-room, humming its way to very ear.

The melancholies and the pain in my own voice made me realized the hollow in my heart. No one else would be able to guess how I was crumbling inside.

It was all my fault. I should have never given Tasha a second chance. I should have killed her the moment I had her in my grip.

It was Dimitri and his reckless acts, his taking the blows for Tasha, which had stopped me. And that was the cause of the disaster.

Tasha, who was on the floor before me started weeping again.

Anger coursed through every nerve of my body as I realized the vileness and evil, all present in that woman before me.

I wanted to destroy her, claw the blood out of her. Tasha didn’t deserve to live.

But for the moment, I needed answers. I needed to know where her lair is. I needed to know all her strategies and when Rose Hathaway is determined, nothing can stop her.

Deftly I snatched up a gun from the hands of the guardian closest to me and pointed it straight at Tasha.

“Last warning,” I hissed through gritted teeth, “Where is Lissa? What have you done to her, you vile creature?”

Tasha’s cries increased in volume as she shook her head in denial.

I looked at Sonya. She shook her head. Tasha’s aura clearly showed that she was lying.

“I know that you are aware of it,” I said, still pointing the gun at Tasha.

“Rose,” Dimitri tried to interrupt, “She is in a fragile mental state. She has just been turned. Let her rest and recuperate. I am sure we can get answers.”

“But we can’t wait, Dimitri,” I reasoned, “Lissa’s life depends on it? What if something happens to her?”

“I know…” Dimitri stopped, “But you don’t know how it feels like at this stage. I passed through it and I know. You go to pieces inside. Tasha is certainly not in a condition to reply.”

“What about Lissa? Dimitri, Tasha is your main concern now? Your savior, our queen, my friend, Lissa Dragomir is missing,” I screamed.

“I can understand your mental condition but please give Tasha some time,” he tried to negotiate.

“She is very quick to put up pretenses,” I turned towards Tasha aiming the gun, “I know, and so does Sonya. S-H-E   I-S      L-Y-I-N-G. ”

“It’s not true. No one who has been healed is in a state to put up a show,” he turned to Sonya, pleading, “You know how it feels Sonya, You try to explain to Rose.”

Sonya simply shook her head, “Natasha is lying Dimitri. I can see her aura. I hope you do trust me, if not Rose.”

Something stuck in my throat. Could it be possible that Dimitri did not trust me anymore? Was it even possible that he was taking Tasha’s side? He was betraying me? Did Sonya see anything in our auras?

I was shaking with anger by now.

“I don’t care,’ I declared, placing my finger on the trigger, “Last chance Tasha Ozera. Tell me where Lissa is.”

“Please Rose,” Dimitri looked at me, sadness evident in his face.

Tasha shook her head in denial, burying her face in her hands.

“Then die…”

But before I could pull the trigger, something happened which was beyond my wildest imagination.

In that fraction of a second, Dimitri was between my gun and Tasha. He was standing there, his towering figure, the badass Russian God. And he was guarding Tasha, throwing himself in the line of fire.

He knew I would never hurt him and thus he got the opportunity to protect her. But what would have happened if I had been a little hasty to pull the trigger?

He was ready to die for HER?

My hands shook as the gun dropped from it, landing with a clank on the floor. I couldn’t feel my hands anymore.

I felt so cold, so lonely. I felt used, betrayed. The love, the perfection, the devotion, they were just mere illusions.

All his promises, the kisses all suddenly came back to me on the mirror of life and that mirror shattered itself and behind stood one woman, a vindictive villain, Natasha Ozera.

I dropped down to the floor, my legs unable to support me anymore. I wrapped my arms around myself trying to seek comfort from myself.

Dimitri had realized a little too late what he had done. But the moment he realized what his action signified, he stood frozen on the spot.

Tears welled up in my eyes, pouring freely as I looked at the man I had worshipped throughout my life.

“Roza…” his voice was shaking.

“Stop,” I covered my ears, “You chose Tasha over Lissa, and you chose Tasha over me. That’s enough for now.”

“Rose, let me explain…”

“Explain what? I don’t need any kind of explanations,” I snapped.

My heart was breaking and I really didn’t know what I could say without breaking down completely.

“I HATE YOU,” I took off the engagement ring from my finger and looked defiantly at him.

Then I threw it on the floor with the full force in my broken heart, “It’s all over between us GUARDIAN BELIKOV.”
