Pearl's POV
Amethyst sat a little closer to me.
'Are you scared?' I joked.
'Me?' Amethyst asked and she grinned as well, 'Who do you think I am?'
'It's okay, it's a really scary movie.' I said and I laughed.
'Maybe I just like to sit so close to you.' she said and she sat even closer, which was hard because she already sat as close as possible. I laughed softly and laid my head on hers. After a while the door slowly opened. My whole room lightened up. My dad.
'Dad.' I said, 'Have you ever heard of knocking?'
'I'm only here to tell you I'm going.' my dad said and he walked towards me and Amethyst, 'I'm already pretty late, but I was so curious, you know? I'll be quick. How's everything here?' I could see my dad was kind of in a rush, but he still wanted to assure everything was okay with me and Amethyst, and the thought of that made me smile.
'Yeah, it's great, dad.' My dad looked at the screen of my laptop.
'Nice movie?'
'Didn't you have to go?'
'Oh, yes! Yes, I'm sorry.' He looked at me and smiled, 'Sleep well, dear.' he said and he kissed my head. He looked at Amethyst and smiled to her as well.
'Goodnight to you as well.' he said and he wanted to kiss Amethyst as well, but then he remembered he's not her child, and she may not like physical contact, so he just stroke her head.
'Thanks, mister.' Amethyst said and she smiled.
'Your mom's gone at nine tomorrow.' my dad quickly said to me, 'Well, goodnight!' He kissed me again and quickly walked away.
I looked at Amethyst. 'I'm sorry if you're not really into, you know, eh, strangers touching you and stuff.' I said softly, 'Physical contact.. My parents..-'
'Oh, no, it's okay.' Amethyst said, 'It's nice of them. It's a way to tell me they care about me. It's.. It's okay.' She smiled, and I did too. One and a half hour passed. Amethyst and I were just talking about stuff. About how amazing beautiful butterflies actually are, for example. They can see colors we can't even imagine. Isn't that.. Amazing? Like, can you imagine it? No! That's pretty funny, huh? Suddenly someone knocked on the door. I already knew it was my mom. My dad was gone, and my mother always knocks before entering a room.
'Yes?' I asked. Slowly my mom walked in.
'Hi, mom.' I said. My mother entered with a warm smile.
'I just came to check how things are going.' she said softly, 'I'm going to sleep.'
'Everything is great.' I said and I smiled.
'That's great.' My mother sat down on my bed. She looked at Amethyst. The whole ambience changed, just because of the way she looked at her. Worried.
'Is it always like this at home?' she asked softly. There was a silence.
'It's okay if you don't want to go in details, I understand, but I just..-'
'Oh, no, it's okay.' Amethyst said, 'Er, no, it's not always like this.' She didn't look at anyone anymore. I hold her hand, without my mom noticing it. There was a silence.
'Things got just a little out of hand. It wasn't like a fight or something. It's more like.. We had different opinions. That's not a fight, right? We started shouting at some point, and I thought it may would be better if I left her alone tonight..'
'Where was your dad?' Amethyst swallowed.
'My parents are divorced.'
'Oh! I'm so sorry.'
'You couldn't know, it's okay.' There was a silence again.
'How much do you see your father?' my mother asked. Amethyst unknowingly hold my hand even tighter.
'Never.' she said and it was extremely hard to get the words out of her mouth, 'My dad left us, before I was born.. I've never seen him or anything. Well, photo's, but.. You know?' She bit her lip and smiled weakly.
'I'm so sorry.' my mother said, 'I didn't..-'
'Mom?' I asked softly, 'Can we talk about this.. Another time?' My mom looked at me, and quickly nodded.
'Yes! Of course we can, yes. I'm really happy that you trust me, and told me more, you know? If there's anything, you're always welcome.' She stood up, 'I'll, uh, I'll let you guys alone. Goodnight, dear.' She kissed my head. She looked at Amethyst, smiled, and kissed her head as well. She looked at her and gave her a warm smile.
'Goodnight, Amethyst.' Amethyst smiled back.
'Goodnight, ma'am.'
'Goodnight, mom.' I said and I looked at her while she walked away.
'Are you okay?' I softly asked and I looked at Amethyst. She quickly grabbed me tightly and tears rolled down her cheeks. She was shaking. She looked at me, her face already wet and she pulled me into a kiss. I didn't know how to react properly. The kiss was wet and salty because of her tears that kept rolling down her cheeks. I pulled away.
'Calm down, Amethyst.' I said softly. She shook her head, still crying.
'Kiss me, please.' she said and it was hard to say no to that face and the begging sound in her voice. She kissed me again. I let her do what she wanted to do and softly rubbed her back. It helped. I pulled back again, to look at her. I wiped her tears away. She smiled softly. She didn't cry anymore. She hold me close again and kissed me for the third time. Suddenly the door opened.
'I'm gone at nine tomor..-' my mother didn't even finish her sentence. Amethyst and I quickly pulled away. She always knocks, but now she just entered the room like it was nothing? She looked at us.
'I'll go.' she quickly said and she left. I think I heard some happy noises when she walked away, and that made me blush even more.
'Well, that went way better than with my mother.' Amethyst said and she wiped some little tears away.
'We still have our clothes on now.' I said, 'And my parents know I'm into girls.' Amethyst nodded.
'Were you.. Afraid, to tell them?' she asked. I kept quiet for some seconds. Things randomly became pretty serious.
'Well, o-of course.' I said, 'But I knew they were going to accept me.' Amethyst nodded again.
'Would you have told you mother? If she didn't find out herself?' I asked.
'Maybe when I finished school.' she said softly. There was a silence.
'It's not a problem I like girls.' Amethyst said, 'It's.. It's like, it's a problem I'm in love, you understand?' I kept quiet and nodded. I felt really bad for Amethyst.
'O-other subject.' Amethyst quickly said. She blushed madly and refused to make eye contact.
'What did you think of the movie?'
'The movie?' I repeated, 'It was okay. It just was a little unnecessary that man died. If he just didn't went to that building, like everyone told him, he wouldn't die.'
'You were scared, weren't you?' Amethyst asked and she grinned.
'It's a movie for 12 year and higher.' I said, 'How scary can it be?'
'You don't need to be cool for me.' Amethyst said, 'Some 12 year and higher movies can be really scary.'
'Well, this one wasn't.'
'Well, what does scare you?' I kept quiet and thought.
'Eh.. I'm scared to make mistakes.' I said, 'Because if I make mistakes, I do things wrong and I don't want people to know I do things wrong.' I think Amethyst expected something like spiders or snakes, because the expression of her face changed.
'O-oh. Well, everyone makes mistakes. No one needs to be perfect. Without mistakes, you can't learn, right? Y-you don't need to be scared when you're with me.'
I smiled softly. 'I know.'
