Chapter 4

It had been 2 months since Betty had moved to New York and into the apartment. Veronica had stopped by and told Betty she had set her up with a friend of a friend and it was on Saturday night at a bar down the street. "Veronica I don't think it's a good idea" Betty moaned. Suddenly Betty's phone rang and she left to answer it while Veronica tried to get the boys to help her convince Betty to go on a date with this boy but the boys said they wont make Her do anything she didn't want to do. When Betty came back after the phone call, she looked really sad; Veronica and the boys were sat at the table after dinner when Veronica broke the silence. "But B your last boyfriend was like 6 months ago you need to get back into the dating scene" Veronica pushed. "No" Betty said. "Look he can't be as bad as Lucas" Veronica stated. Betty dropped her head to the table. "Who's Lucas?" Reggie asked, the boys confused about Betty's actions. "He was Betty's ex boyfriend" Veronica informed the boys. "It didn't end well" she added. "It didn't end well? It didn't end well? Under statement of the century" Betty laughed, but she wasn't happy she was mad. "What happened?" Jug asked while rubbing her back, sensing her discomfort of the topic. "Well..." Veronica started but Betty cut her off. " he was my high school boyfriend and I thought he was 'the one' but he found out about my stupid controlling mother and thought I'd end up the same" she said while standing up to pace. " so he spread across the whole school that I was Insane I had to deal with being from 'that crazy family' 'oh look her comes crazy Cooper let's not make her snap'" Betty stated but she was getting worked up and the others just watched not having seen Betty like this before. "Woah Betts calm down" Archie said. "B it was ages ago it's okay you can move on"Veronica said, while standing up to reach to Betty. Betty jumped back from her touch, tears streaming down her face. "MOVE ON? HE IS THE REASON I HAVE DEPRESSION, HE IS THE REASON I CUT MYSELF AND HE WAS THE REASON I WANTED TO END MY LIFE!" Betty screamed taking everyone by surprise, nobody realised how much she was hurting. "B?.." Veronica whispered. "What do you mean you wanted to  end your life?" She asked Betty. The boys stood up, going to comfort Betty but she stepped away from all of them, she looked terrified. "B? When did you want to kill yourself?" Veronica asked more firmly this time. "Which time ?" Betty cried. The others looked astonished. "You know maybe I should've gone through with it!" She said Before running to her room and slamming the door. "How did I not see this?" Veronica asked. "None of us did" Reggie said. "She has bad depression and anxiety but she was doing so much better" Veronica stated. "Im Gonna go talk to her" Veronica said and went to Betty's room. The boys waited in the living room. "We need to make sure she's okay even when she says she's fine, it's our job to look out for her" Archie said. "I think the whole ex boyfriend triggered it I think she was fine until then but agreed we need to look our for her" Jug said. After a while Veronica emerged with mascara down her face. "Her mum rang and gave her the third degree about her 'horrible life choices' and all that so I think it was that aswell as the triggering high school memories but she assured me she wasn't feeling suicidal or she wanted to harm herself, but please take care of her and let me know if anything happens" Veronica told the boys. "Of course" they reassured her.
